Just going along, doing a periodic save and I get “Document C:\... is corrupt and cannot be saved.” I thought it was that “Failure to Save” problem and tried all the tricks, to no avail. After looking closer I realized it is a different problem. I tried a “Pack and Go” but that failed too. Has anyone else come across this?

Do you have SW setup for backups? If so, try reboot, then open your backup.

Yea, after I hit OK of the above error message I get a second saying the same about my backup file and there is no file in the backup folder.

Does this happen with all files or just a particular part or assy? If it's an assy, it may be caused by a single part within it. Try opening and saving each part individually.

This is the first time I got this message, like I said, I’ve had the Failure to Save thing but this is different. I guess I could open save and close all the parts, just there is a bunch (5-600) and I was being lazy.

I found a corrupt part (it was a mirrored Part) and deleted it but, alas, it appears that the assembly itself is corrupt. I don’t want to close it, I’m afraid I won’t be able to open it again.

Can you do a Save As and give it a temp name?

Is the assy comprised of sub-assys? Can you open and save those separately?

Can you create new sub-assys from within the top level assy and save those? If you can do that to most of the components in the TL assy, you may be able to more easily re-create it.

No go on the Save-As. I was able to make an assy from the TL assy but was unable to save it as well. This is a top-down assembly where most parts are defined by a couple of sketches’ and billion planes so I’m trying to avoid recreating it.

When I was an AE we'd hear about this from time to time. More often than not, there was nothing that could be done to save it. Some piece of code somewhere got boogered up (that's a technical term) and the system can't figure out what to do with it.
There's a small chance that you'll be able to close the assembly and reopen, from the last good save point, otherwise all you can do is save whatever pieces you can and recreate the assembly.
