Does anybody have any experience of this switchgear in particular and whether the Busbar Earth Switch of a 33kV windfarm board would be required to be used in conjunction with a circuit breaker (like it does for feeders) also or will it take it down to earth for maintainance tasks on its own...
Has anybody any experience in the UK of any companies who would willingly carry out modifications to 23.5kV nominal rated IPB from a 660MW set initially installed around 1980. Purpose of the modifications is to install a new Generator CB.
Looking for pointers who to approach from past forum...
Thanks chaps, I believe the prospective job it is in the Sindh region of Pakistan but I know that Karachi Electricity Supply Company also cover this region to some extent.
I did find http://www.nepra.org.pk/standards.htm these suite of standards, with a section on metering requirements in...
Has anybody have any experience of jobs in Pakistan and in particular metering of 11kV supplies? Really struggling to the relative legislation and standards involved. Google isn't really coming up with the product this time.
Ta in advance.
Thanks HornTootinEE but in this office, everybody hoards any specialist text like the last chocolate in the tray. Due to me dealing with Power Generation side, we don't have the demand for purchase of DigiSilent, ETAP etc. packages. This could be a good cause for highlighting its need though.
Classification C or K covers current transformers in which the leakage flux in the core does not have an appreciable effect on the ratio or ratios within the limit of current and burden.
K classification shall have a knee-point voltage of at least 70 percent of the secondary terminal voltage...

The letter L stands for low internal secondary impedance, which is a characteristic of bushing-type CTs having completely distributed secondary windings or of window type having two to...
I'm currently dusting off my 10 year old power knowledge, and more specifically unbalanced fault analysis which hasn't been used for a while as I've been in the building services game for the last 5 years (so ohms law and the volt drop equations was about all you had to remember).
I remember...
Currently going through this. They weren't wrong about the time consuming bit

The contractor on a project has submitted the cable sizes for 11kV cables. One of the parameters used in sizing the cables is the fault level withstand. The contractor has sized the cables to withstand the prospective fault level for 1 second.
However, the client has challenged us on why 1...
Cheers Gattie, tried the TDR but for some reason I couldn't even see the upward curve of the open circuit for some reason at the end of the cable that had been OC at both ends?. Along this 3km route of cable there is 6 joint assemblies, some which the client have done themselves but cutting out...
Morning gents (and ladies)
I have a job the now at a hydro power station where the client is experiencing a loss in production and believes this is due to moisture ingress into underound electrical joints along the 3km route of the 10core 5 pair BS5308 Type 2 Part 2 hill instrumentation cable...
Doubt it due to the height of them. As jghrist says check NFPA 780, should be a risk hazard assesment based on building height, thunder days of location, whether there is surge protection installed protecting the main incomer.
Being in Australia, I'm unaware the comparision between NFPA 780 and...
Morning chaps.
First post since I relocated to Australia 3 years ago, good to see this resource still going.
Basically my problem is that I need to confirm whether a Schneider VIP300 protection relay (Is =26A) in the HV cubicle of a 1MVA substation will provide discrimination with some...
