I found a solution thanks to calculations which are given by ASME Section VIII, Division 1.
Meanwhile, for Crude oil I find a orifice size too large and it doesn't exist in industry. I conform to formula for liquid, but here, with the oil (for thermal expansion and for the fire), the fluid to...
Hi,
I search a formula to determine the orifice sizes of my relief valves. The operating pressure is 70 bars (Class 600). I know the flow (Oil and Gas) which circulate in my pipes (2300m3/h at 70bars).
How do I fix opening pressure? What are the flow to evacuate?
Thanks you to help me.
Hello,
I'm working about on-shore fiscal counting system design. The whole of my pipes and devices are classed ANSI600. My pipes are in carbon steel A105.
I would like to avoid to calculate for each diameter, the thickness.
In Industry, Schedule 40 or 80 is often chosen.
Could use one type...

Hi,
I'm working about the integrated counting system design and I wonder how to design my vents for gas and liquid.
Norsok P-001 speaks about maximal velocities in vents equal to mach 0,5, but it creates very large velocities. In practice, are there sizes which are preconized?
Hi,
I readed in Norsok standard I-104: Fiscal measurment systems for hydrocarbon gas, a sentence which I don't understand about instrument ball valves. I quote:"For fiscal measurement applications, ball valve manifold block or an assembly of ball valves shall be applied(3/5-valve)". What does...
To answer to rneill, I want to be able to isolate a line equipped in upstream and downtream with a simple DBB valve to change components (filter, flow conditionner. The DBB Valve is composed with a simple ball with a drain plug to empty the body cavity. on the both side (in upstream and...
The application is an integrated gas and iquid hydrocarbon system. In fact, I have 2 types of valve:
-1 DBB valve (Trunion mounted ball valve)for double insulation and sectioning (upstream and downstream)
-1 Globe Valve to regulate the flows
The pressure in the system comes from 60 to 100 bars.
Hi,
What are the advantages or disadvantage of full bore or reduced valve? In my case, I want install Trunion DBB valves for the sectioning but I dont't know if I must choose a reduced or full bore valves.
Thank you to help me.
Hi,
I'm working about hydrocarbon counting system and I would like to know the pressure level for pressure test (hydro and pneumatic). There are two cases:
1)Gas hydrocarbon:
Pressure Nominal: 100 bars, Class ANSI600
2)Liquid hydrocarbon:
Operating Pressure:60 bars
Pressure Design: 100 bars...
Thank you,
I effectively readed that the max velocities are equal to erosional velocity. Generally,
the gas velocity is limited 40% to 50% of erosional velocity. and correct velocities are 10-13m/s.
In connection with the formula which you are give, is it adapted to liquid hydrocarbon?
For gas...
Hi,
I'm HVAC engineer in France, and I'm working about an unsual subject, the petroleum counting system design. I would like to determine the inside diameter of pipes. It seems that it would suffice to fix the diameter in order that the maximal flow could circualte at maximal velocities.
Does...
