What could a "NBSF" pressure fitting be?

Let me also try to have a wild guess. Will it mean '1/4" Nominal Bore size, Female', similar as jte suggested, or '1/4" Nominal Bore, Single Flanged' for high pressure connection. Please tell us the answer after you clarified with your Marketing guys

    So many kinds of pumps

A centrifugal pump may be a good idea as a start for low head and low flow application. However, there are some limitations to be aware of at the inlet conditions.

    Carrier Water Guidelines

The main purpose for using carrier water is to increase the flow velocity of chemical line. It helps to: - avoid settlement in pipes (i.e during lime water feeding) - increase flowability in pipes (i.e. during polymer feeding) - reduce the time-lag between the dosing pump and dosing point

Storm Water Turbidity Problem--Chitosan not working

Ecorp, Just some suggestions for you to consider. 1. Check the pH of the water and see whether it is within the operation range of the chemical "chitosan" 2. You may contact some chemical suppliers for water treatment (i.e. a polymer supplier), they are always willing to offer help...

Siphon pipe-- maintain empty or full?

Mlib, Corrosion should not be a big problem as you can internally lined the ductile iron pipe with concrete lining, epoxy or bitumen coating. As your pipe will be operated once a year, another point you have to be awared of, if you choose to have a filled pipe, is water trapped inside the pipe...

    Start-up pump design

Coops, When I work with sludge, I experienced similar situations as sludge will accumulate in the piplines causing problems during the start-up of the pumps. There are two ways to solve our case, one is pass high pressurized water to flush the pipeline after pump stop and before pump start...

    Sizing of Hydropneumatic Tank

vsv101, The function of the hypropneumatic tank is to smooth out the fluctuation of the system pressure thus reduce the frequency of start/stop of the pumps. When you size your tank capacity, you should use the highest pumping rate as Qp. (i.e., if only 1 pump is used at one time, then it is...

    Flange Adapter

I think 6mm clearance is not enough for your re-installation as the gasket will not be totally flat when you put it in and once it touches the side of the flange, it won't go in any more.

    Tank recirculation question

I am a bit confused with this one: "We have always done this by drawing liquid out from the bottom and then pumping it back into the tank via a fitting located 90 degrees to the suction fitting." Do you mean the pump discharge is connected back to the pump suction line? If yes, then...

    cantilever shaft reinforcement

Maybe I am talking stupid, but is it possible for you to change a higher load rating bearing instead?

    Flange Adapter

Chris73, Putting one flange adaptor will surely give you enough clearance to remove the valves and the meter. I didn't get the catalogue with me but I think a 10" flange adaptor will give you a clearance of at least 38mm. Why sometimes we put two flange adaptors? Not because for the...

    Variable Flow Pump Question...

My suggestion will be put two small pipelines instead of one large and one small. When you run at 210 gpm, use one of the pipeline, if 419 gpm then use both. You can also connect flushing water to individual pipelines and flush any deposit out when any of them is idled.

Handling air in metered potable water connections

You did not give us an information about your distribution pipework. Is your supply directly pumped to the customers or it is through a service reservoir at high level? I'll assume that you have a service reservoir at high level and supply by gravity. In this case, when you stopped your...

Time- delay fuses and Motor Load Calculations

Crowbar1, If your fuse ratings are larger than the capacity of your conductors, then the fuses won't be able to protect your conductors.

'mix valve' design for lift station

If you are not using Flygt pumps, then the 'flush valve' from Flygt will not be suitable since it can only be mounted to Flygt pumps. Perhaps I should also ask where your pumps lie in the process. Are they before the coarse screen, after the fine screen or somewhere in between? The 1/8 pipe is...

Time- delay fuses and Motor Load Calculations

InnovationT, Did you take into the account of allowable voltage drop and other derating factors when you reach your cable sizing? It is difficult to comment who is correct as information given is limited. What is the cable length and cable installation method?

'mix valve' design for lift station

wickedpete, The manufacturer is ITT Flygt. It is called a 'flush valve' and they put it under the heading "mechanical accessories". They have an Acrobat File describing the flush valve, try this one: http://www.flygt.co.uk/19457.pdf

'mix valve' design for lift station

I used the Flygt one before on an submerible centrifugal pump. The valve is not costly by itself but I think it can only be fitted to Flygt pumps. It attached to the pump casing, not at the discharge pipeline. It stirred up the sediment around the pump when the pump starts. It also allows you...

    weight of water

Hood1, It sounds like you are designing for the supports. If your 60" pipe is designed to certain standards (i.e. BS, ASTM, etc.), the standards will tell you the approximate weight it should be. If it is special made, then the pipe manufacturer will always be able to help. Please also...

Magnetic drive sealless internal gear0 vs Rotary external gear pump

Louchie & juannon, I don't know what your lubricating oil is going to lubricate but I noted that the 40 micron filter is placed at the pump discharge, that means the mechanical seal is in contact with "dirty oil" which may have abrasive media contained. Furthermore, do have a check...
