yes it is an annoyance! this was supposed to be fixed back in NX9. the only thing that i do is drag it out of the way, another mouse click!

hi
no that makes no difference. when i first started to try the import part method the system is asking for me to select offset curves etc. somehow i was able to get it to work but that was giving me no editable tables to put in ie: drawing name etc. i stopped that and did copy paste and i get...
hi all
i have a customer who has been sold to another company. they are asking me to replace their old title blocks with a new one. they have given me a new prt file with the new title block, it has all the table sections as attributes (ie part name). i had thought about just doing an import...
oh good then i'm not doing something wrong!!
well since there is a work around i will do as suggested. thanks for your help.
i will wait to see if this goes into the next update or patch!

the reason why one would add components to a reference set would be to reduce what is visible when using the assembly for something else. if for example i am designing a fixture that uses the assembly of as example a water pump. i may be needing the components that define the outside of the pump...
hi John
one more thing, you will notice that i did not edit the auto dimension dimension, i created a new dimension, this should delete the auto dimension and create a dimension that has an expression attached, as in NX8.5 and previous version.

hi John
i am currently running 9.0.2.5
i have attached a movie showing this example. i have been using NX/Unigraphics since v15 and have not seen this before. this is the first time i'm using NX9 so i know there are a lot of new changes so maybe this is one i missed!

Hi all
i am using NX9 and have found that when i use the Sketcher inside of the hole command with continuous auto dimensioning set to on i will get a point created- this is not the issue. when i double click the dimension to edit its position i get a brand new point created! why? is there a...
Hi John
sorry i guess what i was getting at is when i import a component into my work part, that component will change its colour to what is set in the preferences tab. i was hoping that there was some way for the component to retain its colours upon import. this is what i'm having trouble to...
hi John
is there a place to set this option in the Customer Defaults, any assembly part(s) that i bring in reverts back to a default colour in the preferences tab. i'm using NX8.

hi all
we are in the process of looking into what upgrades, if any we would need to run NX Cam on an existing computer. i do not have the spec's for what we currently have but would like some feed back from any one as to what they would recommend.
our thoughts are to have a...
i am having the same kind of problem. i have an assembly that i am linking a couple of features to. whaen i make a change to the original file the linked bodies/faces do not update. i do have tools/update/interpart upart/delay geom and expressions off- this is the company standard to have...
ok thanks i'll give that a try.
my other option was to just take an associative measurement to each point. that will give me a value i can use in PTS.

i am trying to find a way to capture the X,Y and Z values of an associative point that was created by as example intersection of 2 lines.
i know i can do an 'information/point' to get a window output with these values, but is there a way to capture the values to use as a 'Read Only' value...
if you were to change from 'private' to 'external input/output' this will only show up on the 'Template Explorer" window that pops up when you start PTS. why would you want these values to be shown?? for some one new to NX it helps to show what the value is in its current condition, without...
well that makes sense to me. as i said the part i am looking at does have sheet metal features. i am able to edit the layer back to example 256 and then edit the feature but then it will always go back to 258. well anyway at least i know that some one is not trying to make the part impossible to...
i have found that the best way for this is to make 2 different sketchs, perhaps 3 depending on the complexity. 1 sketch is as example the top shape, the next is the for the side. create extruded surfaces for each sketch and then create an intersection curve that will become your 3d driving curve...
hi john
thanks for replying. i have noticed that i can select the object and move to for example 256 so i guess that is what i will do.
funny thing is if i review the properties of the object it does report out layer 258. i was even thinking that it was a 'named' layer but even still the name...
