CoryPad, the surface finish is more related to the material composition rather than hardness, correct?

    Surface Hardness & Depth Calculation

What is the process to determine how hard a components surface should be, but more importantly how do you determine how deep the the hardness should travel? Thanks

    Surface Finish Requirements 12-16uinch

I need to have a 3/8" round bar finsihed with a surface finsh of 12-16 microinches. Is this something that is going to be achievable using 8620 or 4340 without being heat treated and being ground. The part would be machined on a lathe. Is there a rule of thumb on what surface finish is...

Thumbnail Previews not working in SW07, WinXP

For the the life of me I cannot figure out why the thumbnails previews will not work in Windows Explorer. I've ensured that the check box is checked in Solidwork's options menu and done some other checking in WindowsXP. It is rather odd as I can preview pdfs through the thumbnails. I have...

Help Sweep with expanding OD circles

For the life of me I can't get this to work. What I am trying to do is draw a 3" OD pipe (.065" wall") elbow that gets swedge up to 3.25" OD after the bend. I don't want use a loft as it cannot be dimmensioned correctly enough for the pipe bender. The problem comes into to play when trying to...

    High Temperature Replacement for C95400

Sorry the 1300° is the maximum temperature would see. Standard operating temperatres would be in the range of 600°-700°. The assembly sits in the exhaust of a diesel engine. So you would have plenty of carbon soot, moisture, CO... expelled from the engine.

    High Temperature Replacement for C95400

We are currently investigating a replacement bushing material for C95400 aluma bronze. Our application operating temperatures are now reaching 1300° which is far above the maximum operating temperature of the C95400. For the application, the bushing is pressed into a cast iron housing. A 303...

    CosmosFloWorks 05 and lofting

I am looking for some tips regarding configuring a hollow tube that has a number lofts for use in Floworks 05. No matter how I configure the "Lids/caps" for each end I always run into the dreaded error that the object does not exist in the fluid boundry when creating boundry conditions. At...

has it been designed? high pressure hydraulic fluid reservoir.

the reservoir that i picture is small in volume (.200 litre) but will hold a 'non-compressible' fluid at a given pressure( 25000-30000 psi) would it be possible to use gas as a spring to place a force on teh fluid when the fluid pump is not creating pressure. in order to reduce the pressure...

wrap bmp to surface and extrude??

i was sure that we created a texture from the piece. it has been a few years, and i hope to hear back from the prof soon. i could be wrong. it would have been a two color (black and white) logo. and yes i was looking to create a 3d solid entity that modified the piece, not just a picture.

wrap bmp to surface and extrude??

i've contacted the teacher to see if i was right, its been a while since i took that course. and a while since i last used inventor.

wrap bmp to surface and extrude??

the teacher that i had for inventor created a tutorial set that showed you all the steps in creating it. i believe its available on the inventor website. it was used in the creation of a razor(shaving) and the picture was engraved in the piece. i'm not sure where to look on the website though.

wrap bmp to surface and extrude??

yea in inventor you could insert an image and then simply project it on the piece and extrude the sketch.

wrap bmp to surface and extrude??

is this possible, it was much easier to do this in inventor. the question is how do you take a bitmap and wrap it to the surface and then use that outline to extrude (emboss)???
