    I'll third and fourth that notion. I have a SpaceExplorer from 3DConnexion. It pays for itself when you are constraining your first assembly. Plus the ability to program the buttons is priceless. I would seriously look into getting one.

    Models can import using .stp, .iges, and .sat file formats. Drawings on the other hand I can't find an acceptable format. I am trying to import 2D drawings with rendered isometric views. Thanks for the help. -Brian

    If that doesn't work (which it should) you could make a derived part and insert the scale there. 25.4 for inches into mm .0369 for mm into inches

    You could try moving the assembly your drawing is currently directed to and re-open the drawing. It'll ask you for the location of the assembly. At that time you would re-direct it to the top level assembly you are wanting to use. Design Assistant might also be a better way to do this.

    No it won't. Inventor knows the difference between units of measurement.

    For the assembly drawing, leave it like you have it. For the part drawings, you might try re-inserting the parts list and selecting 'Parts Only' on the pull down. Not sure if it is the fix you need, but it's worth a shot.

    Stupid question assuming it's a fillet weld, is the leg length longer than the thickness of the pipe?

    I have had a similar instance happen to me. When a weldment view is updated, the assembly changes orientation and looks as if all the materials involved have been changed to "weld." Everything surface looks like a bead of weld. I know for a fact that it doesn't have anything to do with the video...

    What do you mean by "through the API"? I know you can link to any dimension by accessing "Parameters" through the Tools pull-down menu. Is that what you're referring to?

    Just something to look at, if you're using a release earlier than 2008 you cannot have any kind of gap between the two components being welded together.

    Save your original RH drawing dimensioned and finished as you like it. Then, save it as your LH version. After that, physically move your model of the RH model to a location that you can remember. Open your LH drawing and it will ask you to resolve link, at that time you can select the LH model...
