EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE CONVERTED THEM TO 2007, YOU MAY STILL HAVE TO OPEN THEM AND THEN SAVE TO GET YOUR PREVIEW TO WORK (YES ITS A PAIN, BUT I DON'T KNOW ANY WAY TO AVOID IT)

Just as my 2 cents, Solidworks has a great sheetmetal interface.
It is easy to use, and very intuitive.
Don't trust any of our opinions on Solidworks though, we are all loyalists ( see also fanatics).

I know from personel trial and error that Game video cards do not do well for CAD or visa versa, I believe that it has to do with how the cards process the image. That however does NOT mean that it won't work, it just wont work as well as a CAD specific card.

You may be able to machine a holder/adapter that will fit an
indicator, but you will still need an operator on hand to record the measurements.

No problems so far, I've had 2.2 up and running for a week
and all the little bugs seem to be worked out.
The memory problem went away as soon as it finished loading.
The only hinderance was that I went from SP0.0 to SP2.2
and that load seemed to take awhile.
The system runs smooth now...
The most helpful fix in 2.2 was the memory error that came up in large assem.'s. For those not familiar with this error it caused an error in Solidworks stating that solidworks couldn't find enough memory to open the assem., the only choices given at that point were to free up memory(I had 200...
I haven't used that program before, but in all the other cam /cad programs I've used you should be able to save the "crib" as a default tool library. Try going to the help and search "tool library" or "crib defaults"
