We have used 3M Scotchkote Electrical Coating for years, mostly to coat vinyl tape at low voltage motor terminations and the like, to seal and prevent unravelling. Now the sale has been halted in about 10 states due to very high VOC content. Any suggestions for a similar coating product? I...
It isn't so much the cost of the equipment as the amont of equipment you need, depending on your distribution system. For instance, with a earthed system, you can easily have wye xfmr with neutral 120/208 system with less cable, transformers and panels.
The few of my data sheets that do list a voltage rating all list 600 to 35kV. See the link to Scotchlok. T&B is the same on my glossy sales brochure, and Burndy is silent. I don't have any Sqr D info.http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebserver?mwsId=66666UuZjcFSLXTtMxMa48z6EVuQEcuZgVs6EVs6E666666--
Did you check ILOLEX database for the requirement? If there is a requirement, you can be sure it does not mean a towel rack. Pain in the ass if it is there.
Add a hundered bucks per stateroom and a few hundered watts. Not that there is room for onein most heads...
Bill you are right on two counts!
#1. From the engine manufacturer: "Research has shown that the requirements were implemented as an aid in analysis of torsional load optimization of the rotating system."
#2 (to make me go away) "That analysis being complete, the requirement is now...
Theblacksmith;
Yes I have asked, but no reply yet.
Waross,
That is the interesting aspect to me. The instruction come from coupling OEM, and is identical for both 8 and 9 cylinder engines, which both mate up with identical generators. 11500 kVA, 14 pole.
My coupling and alignment instructions for my diesel generator set call for #1 cylinder to be TDC and the generator rotor positioned with the north pole (@ the shaft key position) also TDC.
Why?
The smallest gen sets I have dealt with were about 1600 kW (900 or 1800 RPM), and at that level the generator bearing required pre-lube, but not the engine.
Maybe you can use VCIs. Vapor-phase Corrosion Inhibitors are foam emitters through which the corrosion inhibitor is slowly released and moisture and air pollutants can enter to be absorbed. It provides long-term protection against corrosion even in the presence of adverse conditions including...
wolf39,
I for one have slow salient pole generators. From what I remember the difference between the files you uploaded (which are great by the way) is that there would be a difference in the underexcitation limit, since it could be running for a while with no (or reverse) excitation. If you...
Point taken ScottyUK. What we have is the end result from customer pressure to build the units smaller (cheaper goes without saying), and most of the folks we work for don't want to hear about the down side.
The best results were from Okonite and Amercable, and acceptable was American Insulated Wire.
I have to say however, that cables I classify as "bad" may not be bad in other applications. The primary use of these type cables are as a temporary bypass of damaged cables, not permanent as we are...
A follow-up on what has transpired.
A survey of all the switchgear in question showed that we had these cables installed produced by up to 5 different manufacturers. I say up to, because one set had no manufacturers marks at all. All had the same basic construction and ratings. 3 of the...
