    The simplest way is to use the Accudraw dialogue box. Tapping the space key will change the box from x & y to distance and angle. Or you can use key-in commands, although I don't recall if you can directly put in distance and angle that way.

    In the "place circle" dialog box, set the method to "edge". Set your diameter/radius. Use the "tangent" snap button when picking the lines or curves you want the circle tangent with.

    For H-piles bearing on bedrock, is there a minimum length which should be provided between the bottom of footing and top of rock, other than for cost considerations? The overburden for this particular project is mostly clay material.

    Alex, This sounds like your display resolution setting is too low in AutoCad. In Autocad, under tools/options/display, set the display resolution to 1000 or higher. That should smooth out the segmented circles. Mike

    Torec, When you select the pan icon, a dialogue box title pan view should open with an option to turn on/off dynamic display. If you click that on, then your panning action will work like AutoCads. Mike

    Bearing stresses on pile caps

    Kramer, Typically in Ohio, we use 1'-6 over the tops of the piles and that is sufficient for punching shear. Reinforce the cap for bending moments and shear. As Dinosaur said, don't worry about bearing stress over the pile. Mike
