Derek!
although splitting or sewing is not always an option but your idea is brilliant and it works - thank you!!! something to keep in mind for future design.
Cheers

Hello CATIA Gurus!!!
Let me explain my question.
I created a tool that will be used to lay-up carbon.
The actual contact area between the tool and the carbon plies needs a higher surface finish tolerance. In FT&A we use a colour code system to define surface finish tolerances. This contact...
define your points, activate sketcher, select the points from spec tree and click Project 3D Elements! Now these points are linked to a sketch...therefore you can use them in your user pattern. Works like a charm!

hello wingstress!
do this using your GSD lic!
To get points:
1. Create planes (click Repeat object after OK)
2. specify number of Instances
3. Intersect the new GeometricalSet with your surface
4. You can now create planes in the other direction and repeat the process or use Points and Planes...
Ciao!
Try Tools - Options - Drafting - Layout - View Creation - check "View axis system based on 3D axis system".
Not sure if this works because my "company" locked all CATSettings :-(

Hello CATIA users/admins!
Scenario:
1. Start Portal
2. Search for PSN (No CATIA model required)
3. You don't have to open CATIA
4. Create bookmark
5. Expand PSN (eg. All level)
6. Perform Cut Link Operation on some parts
Result:
Portal will freeze during Cut Link operation!
We have:
1. IE6...
I just usually generate a temporary CATProduct, insert my CATPart into it and use Sectioning tool in Assembly Design. Then you can save your section as CATPart/IGS....
If you have DMU Optimizer you can get a triangulated surface. Create a silhouette and save as .model. Open .model - copy/paste as result.
Hope this helps.
Copy the new geometry to the ORIGINAL CATPart and try updating the CATDrawing. You "might" be able to save some views but not the dimensions.
Or SaveAs the ORIGINAL CATPart then Copy-Paste the 3D geometry to keep same UUID and replace links.
Honestly, I don't think you'll have much luck...
movia - If you have R17 you can select "Keep colors and attributes on subelements" from the Product to Part dialog box. This option keeps the visual aspect of the original data.
If you do not select Keep colors and attributes on subelements, the whole solid takes the color of the original...
YES YOU CAN!
1. Open CATProduct
2. Change color of PartBody(s) or GeometricalSet(s) only!
3. Generate CATPart from CATProduct.
Note: If you change color of the "Instances" it will not work!
Hope this helps!

My test results in Ascii free format:
STL - 10,000pts OK!
STL - 10,001pts "Too many points for this configuration."
DSE - 4,000,000pts+ OK!
Therefore, online docs are correct, BUT only for STL licenses not DSE. Maybe our friends in Suresnes should test before posting false information...
I do not agree with the online docs. You can import 10,000+ points in Ascii free format using DSE.
Let me explain:
My .txt file has over 4million points. I can import all points in ONE operation with DSE license in Ascii free format. If I use STL lic. to import same .txt file, I get "Too...
Bonjour/Hello/Witam,
Is there a way to copy overload properties from one view to another???
I am not looking for a script.
Merci,Thanks,Spaciba,Dziekuje!

One more thing to remember:
For example:
If you save a model/drawing on Feb22/07 you will not open same part on a PC with date Feb20/07. Therefore, if your license had expired, I hope you did not roll back the date on your laptop.
