    Help with plastic selection

I apologize if this isnt the correct plastic forum, but it was the closet I could find... I'm in need of a plastic recommendation for a design. For all intents and purposes it can be thought of as a wiper for a wire rope. I need: -High wear/abrasion resistence -Some degree of natural...

    Drill bit question

Let me be a bit more specific in case anyone can offer more advice... This will be done on a mill, through a drill bushing, clamped down in a fixture, through .25" 6061 T6 Alum material, with a .375" drill +/- .001 at worst, manually added oil.

    Thank you!

    Drill bit question

Oh yes, and long life for the bit is also a must.

    Drill bit question

Just a simple question: Whats the best drill bit for drilling 6061 T6 aluminum with the highest accuracy? (what kind, tip, etc) I've designed a tooling fixture to do some operations in-house to save money and by having an accurate bit, will also save steps. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Where to find models of branch connections?

Try: http://www.tpsd.net/Catalogues/Files/general_catalogue.pdf page 209 From a previous thread, might help somewhat: http://www.bonneyforge.com/OletCat.PDF

    Designing my own anti-backlash setup

Ok, so assume the RPMs arent 12000 and I cant have backlash (because I'm told I cant).

    techinques in training/mentoring

After re-reading the whole thread, just wanted to reiterate my point: the problem is just uncertainty due to lack of experience. A lot of times everything can be saved by just a 2 minute question. Provide a human (mentor) resource in engineering. Encourage them to talk to assembly, welders, etc...

    techinques in training/mentoring

I still am pretty much a novice engineer. I must repeat what epoisses said, "there's no substiture for hands-on training", you must get your feet wet to swim. The biggest compliment to this, is having a mentor type engineer who is very patient (big key) that can answer questions and check work...

    Bump tube holes

I usually end up either making a work plane, or sketching off one of the origin planes. Since its a tube, it shouldnt really matter which one you pikc. Then you should be able to get the desired hole.

    Zamac 5

I'm looking to use this for housing and was curious how corrosion resistent is it? Is there a similar, yet better option?

    Zamac 5

Can anyone direct me to a data sheet or any information for Zamac 5? I have limited resources at the moment and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    .EPS files

Why cant Inventor 10, or any Inventor for that matter, output an .eps file directly? I always have to save it to a .dxf, open with AutoCAD, save as .eps, open with Illustrator, then save as legacy .eps to finally insert it in Word or where ever. What gives? And for that matter, how do I delete...

    Designing my own anti-backlash setup

Hey, I'm a young engineer and am dealing with a gear problem for the first time. I pretty much have the gears and their specifications down, but the problem is designing a simple anti-backlash system. My setup is the main (input) shaft with a 24T to 90T gear reduction. Parallel is the second...

    Getting Solid Models Online

What I really liked when I looked at Partstream is the ease with which you can change the parameters of the model and view the result and rotate, and then download into nearly any extension you desire as a "dummy" model to plug into your assembly, no matter what 3D modeling you're using. Does...

    Getting solid models online

Great, thanks for the info. What I couldnt find though, is whether or not someone can download or save to file the DWF after viewing it. That way they can plug the "dummy" model into their assembly. Is this possible with Viewer?

    Getting solid models online

Thanks for the quick response, but can you go into anymore detail? It would be most helpful. Thank you.

    Getting solid models online

I do my 3D Modeling in Inventor 10, and would like to get these solid models online. I want people to be able to download the solid model, and rotate it as needed. I'm relatively new to the process, but have been experimenting with .stl extensions, but that seems to leave the model completely...
