SolidWorks to ProE / Creo help

jvian thank you for the tips. The information you provided me was more than i found in the help files. Armed with that info i actually feel like i could tackle the stuff at the learning exchange. For some odd reason i have no use of the right mouse button. Is there some secret trick to this...

SolidWorks to ProE / Creo help

Volunteerd to mentor high school students and they are planning on using Creo elements. Would like to consider myself well versed in SolidWorks but am having some trouble understanding Creo sketching functions and realtions. How can i create a construction line of a finite length? How can i use...

Flat pattern in part controls flat pattern in drawing?

Creating seperate configurations is a quick way to get into trouble. Create sheet metal and let it do the work for you, this will ensure that your bend notes appear correctly. If someone monkeys with the configurations it might not update the flat pattern or vice versa. Depending on what you...

Labeling drawings views, sections and details

Is there some place that i can get a copy of that, for free? Or is there a way you can post the relevant information. Limited budget issues. Thanks

Labeling drawings views, sections and details

Is there a standard that defines the how the content of drawing labels are to be done? Should Sections Views be defined as Section X-X? Should Details be defined as Detail X? Should Views be defined as View X? We typically add the page number on the ends it is created on. I have one detailer...

Design of breakaway connection tabs on sheet metal parts.

We ran into this issue at a previous company. Because we supplied the material we also supplied the patterns. We made alot of parts that we also were post processed in sheet format and we found the more info we gave them the less we spent and the better the final product. I agree that to do this...

Upgrade your system to 64 bit. We had the same issue with the 32 bit systems. Once we upgraded no more issues.

    Dual Dimension Display Question

ctopher or anyone can you post a screen shot of the dual dimensions with the units displayed. I would like to show the people who were asking what is or is not possible with our current version. Thanks

    Dual Dimension Display Question

ctopher i do not see the Dimensions/Linear category undder the document properties tab. We are using 2007 is this something new on 2008? Thanks

    Dual Dimension Display Question

I am in the process of creating a field assembly drawing and the request has been made to use FT/IN dimensions as well as dual dimension in MM. When i change my dimension method to FT/IN it displays the ticks '/" as one would hope. How can i get the dimensions to read FT/IN vs '/" and the dual...

    Sketched reference point in drawing

CorBlimeyLimey you are correct. 3D reference point put at the center of a part in an assembly and wants to be used as a dimensional reference in a particular view of the drawing. Thats what i get for thinking faster than i can type.

    Sketched reference point in drawing

No i got the virtual sharp. If when you are sketching you create a reference point (under the reference geometry menu) then want to use that as an endpoint for the creation of a dimension. Thanks

    Sketched reference point in drawing

I was asked this question today of how you go about using a sketched referenced point for dimensioning in a drawing. Using 07 sp4 i think). I feel as though i should know this question but my mind is a blank. Thank

    configurations and file management

Personally i would go with one file with configurations for each dia and use configurations for the lengths. This way as they replace parts within the assembly all the mates will follow. Keep in mind that if you are using a PLM tool that if they need to add items between values that this may...

How to debug a DWG for Solidworks?

We have ran into this quite alot. My method for handling this. 1) Open the file in DWGeditor and move the objects to were you would like the origin to be. 2) Convert all the lines to solid lines and purge the drawing several times. 3) Import the drawing into solidworks. 4) Open the sketch...

    Rename Active Configuration Macro Request

FCS i understand about the open document issue. Unfortunatly we are still running 07. Thanks CBL for the link info. I prefer a macro because it allows the less experienced people a simple solution to an ongoing issue, also i prevents 20 different ways to spell "default"

    Rename Active Configuration Macro Request

Has anyone created a macro to rename the active configurations and display the document name in the BOM? Prior practice was to name them the same as the part number however as these parts are used for new parts people tend to overlook the renaming part. Thanks
