Shell & Tube exchanger pressure rule

picasa ( mechanical ) Standard practice is keep high pressure on tube side and not shell side. I have never seen exchanger designed with very high pressure on shell side. Keeping high pressure on shell side would be very uneconomical.

    Use of deformed tubesheet

uncesyd ( Materials ) Diddhed head with channel is butt welded to tube sheet

    Use of deformed tubesheet

Unclesyd ( Materials ) Jacking will be done against the dished head cover. Tube sheet is checked all over with UT and meets code requirements. Flue gas pipe and all tubes in upper portion are removed and there will be no jacking against the tubes.

    Use of deformed tubesheet

unclesyd (Materials); We would try retube the holes at highest deflection. In order to minimize problem in of alignment of holes, we are also planning to straighten the tubesheet by applying hydraluic jacks with end plates to distribute the load and reduce the deflection. The thickness of...

    Use of deformed tubesheet

metengr ( Materials ) Tube holes size will be to suit the tubes. Tube holes with over tolerances will be machined after weld build up. As specified before all holes will be within TEMA tolerances.

    Use of deformed tubesheet

We have two tube fixed flat circular tubesheets of boiler which are deformed due to excessive differential expension during operation. Maximum deflection of about 2 inches is around central flue gas pipe. The material of tubesheets is carbon steel and per NDE report the condition of material...

    Integrally reinforced nozzle

Leedrong ( Mechanical ) Integrally reinforced nozzles, means one piece forged nozzles . This is stanadrd defination being used by consultant and in practice since many years. Foged Vessels is reputed supplier of these nozzles for high pressure vessels.

    asme & tema

cmsmerg, The design of tubesheet in accordance with ASME is very economical compared to TEMA. TEMA calls for minimum tubesheet thickness based on size of tubes, where in case of ASME this requirement is not mandatory.

    Transportation of tank under pressure

Guys, Could some one help me to answer following question : We have tank contaning Yeast plus water. The size of the tank is 5.44 feet diameter and 6 feet high during transportation. The weight of the contents = 4400 lbs. During transportation the tank will be under pressure of 30 psig. The...

    Pressure vessel mounted on truck

Pressure vessel used to store yeast is being designed for 2 bar in accordance with ASME Section VIII Div.1.The tank will be used to transfer contents ( yeast ) from one brewery to other brewery. When in use this tank will be stationery. This tank is for New Brubswick. Question is that for...

    PWHT weld overlayed TS

metengr ( Materials) As specified before, Table AF-402.1 does not exempt PWHT of weld overlay of any thickness. Therefore since weldoverlay is integral with base metal tubesheet should be PWHT. However the normal holding time for PWHT would be based upon 8 mm weldoverlay thickness not base...

    PWHT weld overlayed TS

metengr ( Materials) Per Table AF-402-1, in case of P-Nos 5A, weld overlay is not listed under exemption. Therefore complete tubesheet should be PWHT.

    U-Tube Exchanger

Angsi, 1. Since this is a U tube exchanger, tubesheet thickness will not change. Max. allowable stresses at 115C and 145C are same. 2. Channel / Channel cover material , if CS with SS 304L cladding , then no change in thickness required. 3.There would not be any change in bolting. Trust...

    Section VIII Safety Valve Blowdown

metengr/hipressure The set pressure tolerances for pressure relief valves per UG-126 of ASME Section VIII Div.1 are , plus or minus, shall not exceed 2psi for pressure up to 70 psi and 3% for pressure above 70 psi.

    U-Tube Exchanger

Before I could answer your questions, please confirm the following : 1. What is original edition of ASME Code for the exchanger. 2. What are the design conditions for shell side and tube side. 3. Is material of tubesheet solid SS or CS with SS weld overlay. 4. How many passes on tube side

Selection of tube to tube sheet joint

hippocrocopig ( Mechanical ) Based on feed back from other users, we would go for strength welding and light expansion in plain holes without grooves. Thanks all for your valuable comments
