Hello,
I am in the process of repairing some legacy equipment that uses the V850/SB1 series of mpu from NEC (now Renesas)
The device is the UPD70F3033B - and in the situation the on chip flash has become corrupted and needs to be reflashed (self program will not function). I have an...
Hello,
I'm working on a piece of furniture, and according to an FEA study one of the parts (the lower frame) needs a yield strength of roughly 65,000 PSI to pass certain certification tests.
There are two versions of the chair, one made from mild steel and the other from stainless steel...
Hello,
I'm working on a lounge chair design, and the client wants to use stainless steel for the frame elements, as they like the appearance. However, they also want the elements very thin (again for appearance).
My question relates to spring tempering 301 or 304 stainless barstock. The...
Electronic voting machines are okay - and only okay - when they create a verifiable paper trail.
However, as a civil libertarian, I think a more serious problem is not the voting machines, but our voting system itself (plurality).
I wrote a couple of articles on the subject that you might find...
Hello,
On a current project, I need contacts for the AAA battery compartment. I can use Keystone 5214 and such (stamped spring steel, with a spring on it) but I'd rather use case mounted contacts that were a simple wireform - you can see these in most remote controls.
Only I'm having a...
I'm assuming by dBA you mean dB SPL A weighted.
Two non coherent sound sources of 104 dB SPL when mixed will produce 107 dB SPL (mixing two equal level sources that are not in phase results in an increase of 3 dB SPL).
If at 10' the signal is 104 dB SPL, at 20' it would be 98 dB SPL (doubling...
You *can* operate 9V alkaline batteries up around 100ma or more, though the discharge curve gets a bit steep. These batteries do heat up more than other types (due to their construction as I recall - i.e. larger number of cells with less exterior surface area per cell for cooling).
In this...
tuned: Thanks for the suggestion on the 3200 - it's ideal for the design, though a bit pricey for the client's business model... But nearly perfect in size - thanks, as I missed that one when I was first going through the Hirose site.

Yea, Hirose is one of the key sources I've been looking at.
The ST series, while 10 position, is probably what we're going with.
I *really* like the MQ172 series, but it is only available in a 4 position version.
If I could find something like the MQ172 in a 6 position, I'd be really happy...
We're looking for a very small, 6 position connector.
A 6 pin mini DIN is too large (about twice the size that we want.)
The female portion of a typical RJ is also too big, and the male side is a bit wanky for this application.
Ideally, we'd like something akin to the very small USB...
Perhaps it's what they hear? The "hum" of a substation, or power lines on a humid day may have much to do with the perceived threat. If you can hear it, it's much scarier. Like things that go bump in the night.
I think this is because we equate sound with some kind of physical force or action...
Indeed - human mental development continues into your 40s. I've gone back to school for an occasional class, and there's no doubt it's *much* easier with life experience under your belt.
*Way* easier than working for a living!!! Hah!
If you return to college with practical experience, you'll...
Maybe the kind of person that likes to write is the kind of person that likes to be independent, and the articles lead them to independent consulting? That's certainly my case - I like to write, and I'm not a 9 to 5er...

Actually, that's "life expectancy at birth". most deaths occurred with infants than at any other age, 100 years ago. Obviously when someone less than a year old dies, it has a dramatic effect on the average age.
The most significant change over the last 100 years was not an increase in mean...
With years of testing in MRI research (about the strongest magnetic fields around) there have been found to be no physiological effects from human interaction with these fields.
In otherwords, it's superstition.
However, in regards to alternating fields, there is a measurable effect as the...
logbook: sure, bulbs do "okay" on DC, but those same bulbs would last up to 5 times longer on AC.
Here's an idea - why not take the car alternator's AC output and use it for the lamps? Probably never have to change a bulb...
