We have folders names under various series of product lines and each folder has sub folders for the variations in each series..and in there we have assemblies, common parts and sub assy folders.

Yes, View only should be lightweight. I can understand it if it opens that particular file in lightweight. but it has no business changing my system options for all the future files I open.
Mechanical Engineer
When I open a file View only, the system options automatically change to turn on open assemblies lightweight in the performance tab. I have to manually turn it off. it is very annoying. Anyone shares this with me?
Mechanical Engineer
Jeff,
I unistalled and re-installed 3 times. My VAR walked me through resetting the registry, completely cleaning the system out and installing SW all over and we still have a problem on that computer. so, my VAR is looking into it.

Here is an update - I installed 1.1 on anohter computer and had no issues with the library features. So I think we narrowed down the problem to that specific computer.
Mechanical Engineer
On this particular computer 1.1 is when I started using 08. However, I installed 08 SP0.0 on one of the other computers in my department and the library features work just fine. We have been using these library features for the past 4 years in SW.

When I install Solidworks on my 64 bit windows OS, is it advantageous in any way to install Solidworks X64 or just regular Solidworks?
Mechanical Engineer
Yes..Gerald put it in a perfect way. If you have always had View origins turned on, you will not notice the change we are talking about.
For those who use the red origin to define the basic sketch, this change is quite frustrating. I hope they will fix it in the next SP!!
I will not upgrade...
By "posted this twice", I meant I posted the question twice...(I just read my own post and I sounded like I posted the solution....!)

sldwkmin,

Hi All,
We have numerous AutoCAD 2000 files, most cases 2 or 3 different files belong to the same part number containing different data. Is there a way we can consolidate the files (belonging to one part number) into one AutoCAD file with multiple drawing sheets?
We have LT 2004 also, if...
This only works for drawings - Insert the impage into a spreadsheet and then import the spread sheet into your drawing.
Insert/Object/Create from file---

Yes,I am sure its not the offset distances. Actually it is not just dimensions but text also. Can you let me know if you are experiencing the same?
Mechanical Engineer
All,
SW07 SP1.1 --- Anyone knows why the dimensions/text in the drawings are snapping to the grids automatically? It really is annoying when I try to move stuff around in the drawing! I turned snap to grip option off and still does not work!
