Quick question... When i apply the dimension to the left of the ordinate, the resulting dimension shows a negative value ( -3.000). Where's the setting to show the dimension in absolute value (3.000)??? Anyone?

CAD should pay for itself, shouldn't it?
Folks,
Here's one I haven't come across yet... kinda hard to accurately describe so please bear with me. In drafting, when creating a detail view, if you expand into the view one should normally see the geometry of the part including the geometry that falls outside the boundaries of the detail...
How does one save a custom view in NX10 (without utilizing the soon to be deprecated drop down menu)? ...and anyone have any idea what will happen to the commands that are only available via the pull down menu, once the menu is toast?

CAD should pay for itself, shouldn't it?
Folks,
Anyone know of where / how a non-student type person can get a legal version of NX to learn on? Preferably NX 7.5 (which is the version I'm working on for the foreseeable future...). Any help would be appreciated. I'm mostly interested in the customization / programming aspect; while...
Is the export statement, by chance, saved and used as a 'pattern'? I'm thinking maybe they have old pattern data being called up.... but this is just a WAG on my part.

@PhoeNX,
Oops.... I was going from memory, and I guess my memory isn't what I thought it was; my bad, and thanks for the clarification. My point is still valid though, and as long as everyone listens to what I mean and not what I say... 0:-)

I had an experience where we went from the 'old' license structure to the MACH bundles.... and due to design needs was forced into the MACH 3 license bundle, even though we had no need for CAM. I'm specifically referring to the nx_freeform_1 part of the license, which is absolutely needed for...
Given the example you provided... Model the edges of the two extrudes with separate blends (and tie the blends together via a common expression or set the second blend size equal to the 'p' number of the first blend). Model smarter, not harder...

hmmm... maybe use external .xls file(s) to define the x/y/z points of associative points in a sketch, then use associative splines to those points? I/we/the company I worked for... did this in a past life so I know it's possible. We had a seed file based on 100 points per spline.... and...
Question of the day: A Custom Item type in Teamcenter v9, call it part A. Open the part, do a save as normal, and the new part is indeed the custom item type. Add part A to a pallete... open the pallete and it immediately prompts you for the new name (we'll call it part B) and the resulting...
Please disregard.... the software is apparently smarter than I am, as it re-orderd itself. Thanks anyways guys!

Question of the day... When using the 'smart text' for the current sheet on the drawing <W@$SH_SHEET_NUMBER>, the drawings are 'out of order' sequentially in the part navigator under the drawing tab.... (ie sht1, sht3, sht2, sht4, etc) Is it possible to 're-order' sht 2 to appear before sht 3...
Sdeters,
TPTB have nixed the idea of implementing the reuse library in Tc, and most all of the "stuff" they want on the face of the drawings is editable, only some via attributes. The vast majority of the part files are done by outside 'vendors' and are brought in/out of Tc regularly (I know...
Question of the day: (NX 7.5.0.3 and Tc 9.1.2.3) Can you have a palette set up to drag/drop 'items' onto the face of a drawing similar to the old school way of 'file, import' ??? I've played w/a couple of palette files, but I'm not to familiar with them and am not having much luck. I...
Skanskan... Instance Geometry is another method... which I think will be replaced w/a flavor of 'patterning' at some point.

Here's one that has me scratching my head. I have a concave surface with a locating barrel removed from it. I need to somehow remove some periphery geometry, but regardless of the method used the resulting geometry is 'filling in' the barrel cavity erroneously. However, if I offset the tool...
Mark,
Due to CAM needs (or so I'm told), we've gone NX6/7.5/8.0/8.5 within the last 18 months.
John,
Can we communicate offline regarding my concerns with the functionality we need on patterning/instance geometry? Or can you hook me up with someone I can speak to? I'm willing to provide...
We just migrated to NX 8.5.2.3 and I have to admit to being very frustrated at the moment... I have a few questions regarding current and future functionality of the software that I can't seem to find an answer for and am hoping to find the answers here, so...
1) The new 'auto-translucency'...
To be honest, I'm not sure....
Our lead CAM guy wants the CAD group to remodel all of the customer models to the "mean" of the tolerance value to facilitate his programming... I contend that it's a bullshit request, he contends that it would speed up the programming and make the CAM group more...
Question of the day.... Is it possible to CAM program to the "mean" (think even split) of the tolerance value of a surface? ...for example, given a surface height of 1.000 inch and a tolerance value of +.030/-.000, can you program CAM to cut the surface at 1.015? ...and can this idea be...
