Thanks a lot.
There are few problems in using Blender, the most important one would be using the motion study in SolidWorks or converting the Solidworks animation.

I believe Autodesk Inventor might export the motion to an fbx which you can later use in other 3D animation software.
Thanks

True :)
I was trying to use SolidWorks motion study, then use a 3D animation to add vfx. The problem I am having is I can't export the motion study. The only software other than Visualize that I found that could export motion studies was KeyShot.
Thanks

Does anyone know how to create a realistic animations for educational-illustrations purposes like these
I tried using SolidWorks but I could not export motion (animations) to other animation software like Cinema 4D to add particles, arrows and other visual effects (you may suggest other...
Thanks, McMaster-Carr had components
This depends on the taught course, if I am teaching:
Thermo-fluid and wish to show my students a pump or a turbine ... etc.
Machine/Mechanism design and wish to show them a gear-box, a cam-follower, ...
...
PhD Mechanical/Industrial Engineering...
True, that's why I'd like to communicate with them using CAD entertaining graphics

Yes my purpose is for education. I prefer to have relevant animations in my lectures. I use SolidWorks toolbox and wish it was a larger library.
Again, you are totally right. I try my best to teach my students based on practical experience, and use available catalogues or tools.
Generic models...
Thanks everyone, I am very happy to read all your inputs and respond to each
It is a great idea to actually use the manufacturer models.

Thanks
I intend to use it for educational purposes and not looking for the industrial complexity

Thank you for your response. Most of online libraries contain parts/components, usually assemblies are of low quality or not working unless you pay a lot.
I am looking for a pre-built library that is offline hopefully it comes with the software itself.

Is there a software that comes with a large library of pre-built 3D models of engineering components and assemblies? For example, in mechanical engineering; we frequently use:
gearboxes (assembly),
cam-follower assembly,
turbines,
pumps,
heat-exchanger,
conveyors belt, chain,
equipments like...

Totally true, I'd like to add the engineering mind set also makes more difficult to take uncalculated risks
If I can find a partner who can not do what I can yet can market it that would be the perfect match. A young engineer or even technician with connections... :)

Many moons ago I made marketing content like this using exported SolidWorks/ProE models but rendering them using Cinema4D. It had some amazing tools for animating flames, particle effects, etc.
C4D isn't free like blender, but if tasked to make this content again I'd factor in the time saved to...
Thanks for bringing this up, I thought about it but I did not know that credentials are an advantage
