@CADWHORE:
To use UDF you have to do something like that:
Insert->Design Feature->User Defined...->Browse->expand metric or english->click Standard_Holes->OK->standard_thread_metric or english. I don't remember if the path is exactly the same in NX4 but it would be something like that...
Have you tried the UDF for adding a thread to your model? It's pretty easy and automated.

No thanks. Bearing in mind the things you said I believe it's good to have CAST separated from the main NX window. Just wanted to clear the things for the people wondering what is the exact situation.

Speaking for the CAST on the Resource Bar, here is a little copy/paste:
"You are no longer able to access CAST from the Resource Bar in NX — the Training tab has been removed. The Resource Bar has been getting more and more use in recent releases of NX, and it is no longer practical to display...
wish you all the best and a quick recovery.

ewh,
No, you just have to switch off "Create line" the same way you switch it on. Just hit again "Create line" and you're ready to measure distance without leaving a trace. [smile]

See, read... You can really become enthusiastic over their future. In the next 3 years or so, they will surpass NX2 in some areas.
Eventually...
Or may be I'm just addicted to NX. [pipe]

it's the solution from the software bulletin:
PROBLEM:
Attempting to start NX 4 or NX 3 with IE V7.0 installed will display an
error:
Fatal Error
Fatal error detected unable to continue
The syslog file will have the entry:

OK thanks to Mr. Baker and excuse me Sandviken for the offtopic in your thread.

a little offtopic:
John, you already mentioned in two threads here 4.0.3.3. When it will be available for download. I only see nx-4.0.1.3 and nx-4.0.2.2 uploaded on the ftp server as a maintenance-release. Or am I missing something?
sorry for the off.

Hi,
copy/paste from the help files:
"NX 4 introduces the concept of a customized user interface called a "role." A role allows you to tailor the user interface by showing only the toolbars and menu items you are likely to use.
By default, NX presents an essential set of toolbars and menu...
Just noticed the NX version. I'm not sure if this is the way it has to be done in NX2.

To apply a material:
1. Optionally use the Selection Toolbar to filter out object types.
2. Select
- Select the faces and/or bodies to which you want to apply a material.
- Open the Materials in Part palette.
- Place the cursor over the material you want to apply and click MB3.
-...
Hi kadego,
I think the easiest way you can achieve the goal is:
Open "Part Navigator", right-click the section view and in the pop-up menu choose "Navigate to Parent". The parent view will be zoomed to fit the screen.
You can also use the "Dependencies"...
fgbrender,
Yes, it's a good one. I believe that's the job dakeb wanted to do. I'm not fluent in english.

I simply follow these steps:
1. expand the member view
2. sketch the boundary needed to be included
3. switch off expanding the view
4. edit->crosshatch boundary
5. choose "Add" option
6. select the crosshatch
7. select the boundary
8. hit "apply" or "update crosshatch"
Does this help...
Just try Edit->Crosshatch Boundary. Of course you can edit the boundary of automatically generated crosshatch:

dakeb,
Have you tried Edit?Crosshatch Boundary? It's pretty well covered in the help files. Does this solve your problem or am I missing something?

misunderstanding in terms usage is what we've got here.
fgbender you're right,
"assoiative basic curves" are "3D curves" created thru "insert -> curves -> lines and arcs".
basic curves created using "insert -> curves -> basic curves..." have no associativity, as you mentioned above...
