    You can try double clicking on the hatching to bring up the Area Hatch/Fill Properties box. Make sure Material crosshatch is unchecked and click on None. If that does not work you can try Tools - Options - System Options. Under Drawings - Area Hatch/Fill. Click on None.

    Join Parts in Assembly

    With in the assembly creat a new part. Then while editing the new part inside the assembly, click on Join, then select the parts you want to join together. This will creat a new part file of the joined parts with out disturbing the original parts.

    The 3 general faults found mean there is a problem with 3 surfaces. You will need to fix them. The quickest way might be to delete those faces and re-create them. 1 open surface means there is a hole some where. If you click on "Open Surface" in the Results list it will higlight to show you...

    Click on Tools, Check. This will tell you if there are any bad faces or gaps. Is this a native solidworks file? If not when you import the file you can run Import Diagnosis and that will tell you of any problems if there are any.

    We have noticed this also. We sent a file to our VAR and received an SPR# that is supposed to be implimented in SP 2. I have not look at the EV to see if it is there but according to the customer portal it has ben fixed in SP 2.

    CBL, I do know about breaking External Refs. I find it eaiser that if someone sees the Imported body there is no question.

    When we need to do this we use the "Insert-Features-Save Bodies" command. This will maintain a link to the original file. If you don't want that link you could alway export a parasolid an imoprt that to its own file.

    Assembly crash - out of memory error

    The SPR number is 300303. I'm running SWKS 2006 SP2.0 on a P4 2.8 with 2gb with an ATI FireGL X2 and Win XP SP1. I was running SP3 but re-installed back to SP2 due to the out of memory error.
