Bar Around Corner of Cantilever Concrete Retaining Wall

How would the tension be calculated? I'm not sure there would be much bending or tension in the corner since the wall is already designed to retain the soil as a one way cantilever slab. Not being cute just trying to understand fully.

Bar Around Corner of Cantilever Concrete Retaining Wall

I am getting an Ldh of 8.5" for a #4 bar. after the bend, I would only have 6" into the wall. It seems like making the wall thicker for just this purpose is kind of crazy. Maybe I am missing something on the required Ldh? It seems like most walls would not have enough development length?

Bar Around Corner of Cantilever Concrete Retaining Wall

Would anyone be willing to provide thoughts on the detail below? This is for a cantilever concrete retaining wall. I am trying to show the horizontal bar around a 90 degree corner in the wall. I was going to use the details from CRSI, but I don't think I would have enough development length with...

Cantilever Retaining Wall Heel Bar at Corner

Great thank you! I assume the stress induced from soil pressure is divided somewhat at each side of the corner, and the wall is somewhat restrained along the stem height so I imagine overlapping the bars would be somewhat conservative. Which is fine with me :). I plan to use continuous...

Cantilever Retaining Wall Heel Bar at Corner

Does anyone know how to detail the heel reinforcement for a concrete cantilever retaining wall that turns 90 degrees? Do the heel bars just overlap in the corner?

16" pipe under existing wall footing

All, Thank you for the replies and sorry for the delay in response. I've been working like A dog to meet this deadline. I have attached a drawing with my current approach...

16" pipe under existing wall footing

I'm doing a project where I need to install a 16" chilled water distribution water pipe below an existing wall footing. The existing foundation wall supports an enclosed walkway one story tall(walkway walls above grade are concrete and i think the roof is timber). The walkway is about 8' wide...

    LVL Lateral Support

Thank you all very much for your responses. This has been bugging me for a long time and it is great to have other professional opinions on the matter. Greatly appreciated!

    LVL Lateral Support

Lol well judging from your threads you have plenty of experience and I think that makes sense. It is a 3-ply beam which gives the beam a total width of 5.25". The two spans are approximately 10' and the beam supports two floors. Trib width on first floor is about 13.5 ft and same for second...

    LVL Lateral Support

I agree. I am in a bit of a stick situation as the client wants to keep this as a drop beam. I have also recommended a deep saddle type connection but that was a no-go for them too. It seems like I have two options: 1. Run the beam as only being braced at each end and not the middle. This...

    LVL Lateral Support

I am using forteweb to analyze a multi span LVL basement beam. The beam is a drop beam and is pocketed into the foundation walls at each end. The center support is a steel column. Forte has an input for bottom edge lateral bracing. I am assuming there would be no lateral support at the bottom...

    Gas Station Site Design

Thanks for your reply everyone. I am a Licensed engineer with several successful site designs under my belt. Just had never Laid out gas pumps before and wasn’t sure if there were considerations for fire suppression among other things. It does make sense to take a look at existing layouts and I...

    Gas Station Site Design

Does anyone have a good reference to lay out gas pumps for a gas station? Like how far apart pumps should be, what overhang the canopy needs to be around the perimeter etc.
