How many leads do you need? How many amps? the connector i refered to can come with or without threads, they slid together with little force and are keyed for alignment. I was segesting a idea to see if it was along the line of what you are looking for. Do you have a design yet?
Thread form is my first guss as well, but one other thing did you use any dry lube? and have you sectioned a piece to look at the cross section? I would like to see the cross section photo for analysis this could tell the story.

Not having much information to go on regarding your need, I would offer that you might want to look into mil spec. 5015 cylinderical connectors, they can be hard mpunted, If you want to provide more information I may be of more help

I have no knowledge regarding your search, except that the Hobert site has some very helpfull people, they have helped me when my robot vendor could not, give them a try.
Just a personel preferance but I find inside autocad my favorite, but as anyone will tell you what you find easy to work with is best for you. Do you have a college libary near you? if so check out all the books you can and try them all befor you buy any.
Your discription of the task leaves me guessing.
Is the lid hinged and you simply need to stop the basket accuratly?
