Defining strip in SAFE is similar to what you do manually see some examples and watch demo video on CSI website you will get the idea.

There is a technical paper about SAFE punching shear check. They have given all the limitations and some hand calcs. I hope you can find out in the SAFE folder with manuals and i believe that will give your answer.

I believe if u r not using template then u have to define strips otherwise you will not be able to design.

In SAFE go to option tab, click preferences, click on design tab and click Define Reinforcing Bar sizes. Detailer will pick up the bars which you have defined in Design. Hope it will help. Zee
