    bARN WALL GIRT DEFLECTION

Sorry, There are intermediate columns and continuous wall lagging on the inside for the salt to be piled against. The wall girts are exterior for the metal siding above that. Im not that generous with "letting it ride" lol.

    bARN WALL GIRT DEFLECTION

Ron, the salt will be against the walls up to about 4' only. Weak direction wall girts. I reduced to 1'-9" spacing, and gonna let it ride! Thanks

    bARN WALL GIRT DEFLECTION

Working on a barn for storing salt for a DOT. Wall girts are flat 2x6 and 24" trib. Span 8' c/c. Deflection from wind CC is killing me. But what real deflection would be appropriate? IBC table 1604.3 doesnt really have a value for wind load. What would you use? I hvae seen L/60?

    Shoring OSSJ with wood?

What if the joist doenst have a vertical at the panel point? Just the "bar" bent and welded? Just resolve the forces? EDIT-I see now, use wood to create a vertical member.

    Shoring OSSJ with wood?

My worry there is now the bars are in compression and buckling an issue. I know I can check these items. I know I can model up the truss to check, but was trying to avoid all that.

    Shoring OSSJ with wood?

Yea, I figure if I am close to the bearing seat, within same distance from the first chord, I hopefully should be good on the joist. I will limit any live load during the shoring. For stability, I was thinking a ledger type board on the side of the temporary wall, and they can attach the...

    Shoring OSSJ with wood?

Got some steel joists with a slab on top to shore while the wall is removed and beam installed. My plan was 4x4 under the top chord about 6-8" back from the support, and that be supported by a wood wall. I dont want to goto bottom chord due to reversal of forces. Anyone see an issue? Perhaps a...

    Cold Formed Joists

Designing a job with cold formed joist. Contractor is not sure who will be supplying. Would the best thing to do is provide reactions for the connections, and let the supplier/manufacture provide connections, as such not to make it more expensive with a custom connection?

Thanks guys, I will work on these items.

    RISA3D help

Thanks. Right now I am only chekcing gravity loads, no lateral load included. The loads are small. I will try fixing the moment frame bases and see if that stiffens up the model, I can check them seperate.

    RISA3D help

So by locking to 2D, I can get it to run with Pdelta. I then add an area load for a RTU, and pdelta blows up again. Not sure why its so sensative with pdelta. EDIT - Just saw my model is not attached. Here is a link End Frame.r3d

    RISA3D help

Having an issue with RISA3D and Pdelta. My model is attached. No outrageous loads, just 10psf DL and 20psf LL. Moment frames 4 directions. It gives me alot of locked nodes for My. If I do Pdelta analysis, wont even run. Anyone good with Risa3d and see anything out of the norm?

    Flange plate moment connection

Thanks, Looking at my situation, my deck is above on perlins, so no support needed.

    Cold Formed Steel naming

I guess Im shocked someone in the business doesnt know AISI nomenclature, and also cant use google! I send them a message educating them on the nomenclature, hopefully thats enough.

    Flange plate moment connection

Thanks. So the deck support plate would be under the flange plate? Would it be the same width so the bolts go thru it too? Do you have a detail you have done before?

    Cold Formed Steel naming

Coming back to this. Does the SSMA have sizing for Zee and Cee girts? I used a 6Z2.25x105 designation and the metal building guy is stumped by it. Hes used to 6", 12 gauge. That doesnt tell anything about flange. Im worried!

    Flange plate moment connection

Design guide 39 is moment end plates right? I was doing a flange plate.
