Hi,

I need to design a nut welding fixture (it's my first one), and I have a question that might be obvious to you.

Is the lower electrode generally fixed? Is that why shims are used extensively on the fixture—to align everything to the fixed lower electrode? Or is it common to adjust the height of the lower electrode?

I understand that shims are used for fine-tuning the fixture, but I’m not sure how often the lower electrode height is actually adjusted. To me, it would make more sense to set the lower electrode height on the machine once, and then build and adjust the fixture around that.

Thank you in advance for your response!

Not completely, in my case the operator also puts the nut on it.
