Typical practice the contractor to kill the existing water service after install a new water service for a residential house.

Depends on the project. I have some lead service replacements underway. The contractor is attaching new tubing to the existing lead water piping. The contractor then pulls the new tubing through the underground route of the existing piping using the lead piping.

Thank you so much for the information. City just told me that there will be an inspection also required. It costs about $300. Does that occur to you? Thank you.

Varies with the location. Some municipalities have high fees for water tapping:
