Entire Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system was down about 4 hrs this morning for "train control problem" leaving thousands of commuters scrambling for ride-shares, buses etc., to get to work this morning.

BART claimed it was not a cyber attack, just some random glitch.

Did they add new rolling stock?
System wide shutdowns were once a feature of Vancouver's Sky Train system each time new rolling stock was added.

Supposedly not; there was supposedly a problem "powering up" the control system during morning startup, since they shutdown at midnight every day.

But don't worry, in sure "safety is their top priority".

I had to do a power reset the other day when the aircraft didn't come up clean.

There is usually a solar storm occurring when it happens to me. Need to dump the ground power earth for 2 mins then power up off batteries and start the APU and she will come up clean.

It took BART aboutg 4 hr to getting running, so probably a bit more complicated, but they've been very mum about everything, I think

The good news is that very few people use BART anymore so the disruption wasn't very noticeable overall.

After all of the "improvements" they've made in recent years, that's down from 400k/day.
