Hi everyone,

I’m searching for a language model specifically trained on structural design codes like ACI, AISC, Eurocode, and other engineering standards. Does anyone know of such a tool or have experience with one?

Also, I’m curious about how these models handle copyright issues when using proprietary codes and standards. Any insights on this would be helpful too!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice!

Best,

It is looking like existing commercial AIs were fed with pirated content, so I don't think copyright issues are top-of-mind.

A couple of decent building code GPTs currently exist. https://permitgpt.ai/

I'm unaware of any such tool for referenced standards like ACI 318 or ASCE 7.

I would not use an AI for these documents.

Hi!

That’s a good question. I’m not sure if there is a language model that is only focused on design codes like ACI, AISC, or Eurocode. Most models can help explain ideas from these codes, but they don’t include the full text of the codes because of copyright rules.

There are engineering tools that use these codes, but they usually need to be bought or licensed.

I hope this helps!
