MOMENT OF INERTIA CALCULATION FOR Z SECTION

I suspect this should more properly be in the student forum. Calculating section properties should be easy, or can be picked up from any "strength of materials" text.

not sure what you mean by "with lid" ? ... the section is a typical Zed section with lips.

"radius of gyration" ... about the z axis ?

Generally built up from combination of rectangles and partial circles with parallel axis theorem.
Bend radius can be included or treated as a square corner depending on accuracy needed.
For torsional properties of thin-walled sections, see Roark.

You can also draw it in AutoCAD, turn it into a region, then use mass properties. But I like to have some way to check this stuff, too.

I'd prefer to learn the general approach, rather than a slew of specific cases.
