Dear All,

Does anyone know what is the Structural/physical meaning of Coupled and Uncoupled Stiffness. I found it in the Stiffness of Link element in SAP2000

Uncoupled means a force in x causes a displacement in x, but no displacement in the other 5 DOFs. Coupled stiff means a force in x can cause displacements in x and in any or all of the remaining 5 DOFs. Uncoupled stiffness has a nonzero diagonal and the off-diagonal terms are zero. Coupled stiffness, the off-diagonal terms may be nonzero.
