Thanks Mark. The little caveat I forgot to mention: I'm forced into Icam for the foreseeable future. (I remember when life was simple - Could make my own Postbuilder posts that worked perfect with NX)

Long story short, home from work now and forgot my GTAC password...
I'm at a shop with OLD iron to program on. Typically I must use a short 45 degree anti-backlash engage move prior drilling a hole (old problem I know). Was hoping someone has come up with a grip, journal, a hidden feature, or...
I heard about a couple hundred layoffs at their Grand Prarie Texas Facility. Rumor is they've decided on NX for their manufacturing solution as the v6 implementation was not going very well. Any publicly known truths to this? I would love to see NX back in the commercial airframe markets...
"You still haven't answered WHY you cannot run a newer version of NX?"
I think we know the answer... ;) Btw, I felt bad having been on NX6 till end of last year. Now on 8.5, it's way cool!

"Siemens has provided the software and students have, what I think is most important, PROPER TRAINING. By teaming up with numerous schools Siemens has taken the correct approach. I have had several supposed "power" users apply for positions that have not had any training."
I second this about...
"Training is an investment in you and your productivity to the compnay, not an expense."
It used to be thought of that way. Let's hope 2014 is the return to training investment!

I second the Wavelink method. We get a LOT of revisions for airframe parts.
I get .stp files from v5. Then, once converted to .prt I bring it as a component and make a Wavelink. If the model does not change "too much", I get pretty good results with regenerating operations after revisions. That...
Now I'm only an NX cam guy but, I can only imagine the millions of dollars to be spent converting Teamcenter data to Enovia...
Also given the pricing structures, I can't imagine why (unless your customers demand it). I work in the airframe industry and change jobs every 2-3 years chasing NX...
Within the operation under Machine Control are Start of Path and End of Path Event. Within there is Goto event. Select it and pick your point (I usually create some hard points first). You can then apply a feed to those points. You create them at the End of Path Event as well. I put one at the...
Assigning a feed to a goto within the operation is by no means "fake". It remains intact when regenerated. Plus, if you create hard points to drive, the next programmer who looks at the file will see the logic.

I do this all the time for getting long cutters into deep pockets safely. Use a couple goto points to get near the engage. You then set rapids or feeds to those prior to the engage. You can then set Clearance down in the pocket for multiple passes. Hopefully that makes sense.

Great video. I like the fact that while CT is not a cheap place to live or do business (in relative terms to other states), it supports a healthy manufacturing sector. That flies in the face of the whining folks do about manufacturing costs here in California. ;)
