Michelson interferometer-Coherence required?

OK, your coherence isn't the problem - laser light stays as coherent as it started over a theoretically infinite distance - the problem is wavefront and/or phase distortion. The nice laser beam may end up hideously deformed after so many reflections off inperfect...

    fiber pilot plant

I need access to preform fabrication and fiber pulling tower plant for small scale fiber design project. Any contractors out there?

    Laser for melting silica

    John
A small Carbon Dioxide (CO2) laser perhaps 20 to 50 Watts would melt silica materials very effectively. The laser beam can be 'focussed' using simple lenses to <100 micrometers so that should fit with your size requirements. These size lasers start at $5,000 so to try the idea it...

    forced vibration calculator

Anyone know of any on-line calculators or freeware for calculating the resonant vibrations of an aluminuim plate driven in the centre and clamped around the edges?

temp monitoring close to an RF plasma?

    Thanks sford
A rough idea of cost would be useful.
Can I use Boron Nitride in place of ALO2?

thanks 13. So BN is not suitable for diamond machining to give a sub micron surface roughness?
Ever heard of this Shapal-M by Tokuyama?

Can I use Boron Nitride in place of ALO2?

I've used Alumina for ballasting electrodes in an RF plasma generator. BN has some better mechanical and thermal properties I could use. How does it repond to RF fields?
I've also seen a material called Shapal-M (which is AlN and BN mixture) - any knowledge of use in RF apps?

temp monitoring close to an RF plasma?

I'd like to measure the temperature near a RF plasma generated with a power of 1 kW. The plasma is inside a low pressure aluminium chamber. I've used liquid crystal temp "badges" that change colour. Would like something more real time.
