i have a generator with two sets of windings..one star and one delta. i have a plc that will switch between the windings. what is the best controller for this application? contactors? relays? starters?

i need to find a economical way to operate a master cylinder for a project I am working on. I only need a inch or so of linear travel and the force required is less than 10 lbs. The voltage I have to work with is DC and can be anything up to 24 vdc. I prefer 0-10 VDC.

i can get better output from the pm gen at higher rpms if the windings are placed in parallel.
a simple set of contacts that would open and close based on rpm would do the...

i am trying to find the easiest and best way to be able to switch the windings of a pm generator from series in low speed to parallel at higher rpm.
should i use a hall sensor or a centrifugal switch or something else?
