Am I reading this correctly? FM Data Sheet 8-9 Table 8

I see that as 30 psi as well with a 250 gpm hose.

Hydrant flow test with static and residual obtained DOWNSTREAM the flowing hydrant on a dead end line.

Oh. So you want to gauge it backwards? Sorry, I thought you meant that you had a public main with a lateral to your spigot and then continued on to a hydrant. I'd prefer to get a reducer on that flange and a hose valve so that you are flowing downstream of the gauge readings.

Distance below ceilings for concealed space protection

There is very specific criteria for concealed combustible spaces. Be sure to follow all of that and you are good. But yes, generally the 1-12" down for unobstructed or 1-6" below the beam to a max of 22" below the deck. However, if specially listed sprinklers are required, you will need to...

Hydrant flow test with static and residual obtained DOWNSTREAM the flowing hydrant on a dead end line.

As long as there is no backflow preventer or check / detector check valve on the lead-in, you should be able to get an accurate static / residual and then just flow the line downstream.

    Freelance start up help

This is likely not the correct forum. Are you doing this part time, while moonlighting from your full time job? Or are you going all in?

NFPA 13R Density required outside the living units in a common area when using listed residential sprinklers.

That area is outside the dwelling unit. Therefore, you go to NFPA 13 for sprinkler spacing, area of coverage limits, obstruction rules and density of discharge. Since you are using residential sprinklers, you would do the greater of the listing or the actual area of coverage x 0.1. This is...

K25 Sprinklers in Warehouse – Effect on Connected Light Hazard Areas?

You base your system sizing and calculations on a given area of operation. You are typically going to calculate the areas separately. The premise is that the fire will not cross from one area to another and be controlled by the fire sprinkler system. I hope you are aware that not all fire...

    Foam bladder tank location

As I understand, it must be in a separate room. It can't be out in the main warehouse area exposed to what is being protected.

Using Extended Coverage Sprinkler in Pre-action System

You need to dig into your standards, requirements and datasheets. Most EC are not listed for EH (HC-3) use. There are some K25.2 sprinklers that cover >100 sq ft. You need to do the leg work to find out what is required for your project.

Using Extended Coverage Sprinkler in Pre-action System

As long as listed for use, yes. I have used plenty of EC sprinklers in preaction systems.

    fire water demand

Is this a rural project? You can get some pretty low fire flow requirements on rural projects. Parking garages have been upgraded to OH2 in NFPA 13, 2022 and newer. If this is a multi-building complex and you have a flow test at the street as it comes to the property, my opinion is that you...

    Schedule 40 vs 10 for pre-action system

Pipes as thin as Sch 5 are used in fire sprinkler systems. Obviously you aren't going to thread anything below Sch 30. You can use Sch 10 down to 1¼" with no problem at all. Now that Victaulic makes a 1" grooved system (IGS), I don't see why you can't use 1" Sch 10. Long gone are the days...

When to include exterior dry sidewall sprinklers in calculations with interior sprinklers?

Is the exterior wall rated? If it's rated, I think it is pretty clear that you separate them. If it is not rated, then I could easily see some one interpreting that you need to include them in your calculation area and it would not be hard to justify that requirement either.

Automatic Fill Valves for Sprinkler Tanks

SD2 - How have you been? Been a long time since we've talked. I hope you are doing well. I just did the prep for a webinar on sizing break tanks. You have to check for multiple points before you are good. 1 - Do the makeup. You have done that. It is total demand - refill rate. That is...

    fire water demand

I highly suggest you contact a competent fire sprinkler contractor or a competent fire protection engineer. Site fire flow, standpipes and sprinklers are individual demands. They are not required to be compounded, unless you have an authority (local code enforcement, insurance, etc) that...
