What is this thing on a deaerator?

My vote is on chemical injection quill. we had one just like it on our DA at the last place I worked.

    Gas turbine compressor washing

Walnut shells and rice and so forth are no longer recommended (though they work well). My experience with on-line washing is that you don't see an immediate change following the wash. On-line washing slows the performance degradation due to compressor fouling. Off-line washing, on the other...

Cooling Tower Basin / Sump design

Will you be incorporating screens between the basin and sump to catch debris before it gets to the pump? I'd recommend it.

Gas Turbine Power Augmentation using Fogging System

Mee Industries is a leading in the fogging technology and equipment. They can answer your questions on this subject. www.meefog.com (I am not affiliated with Mee)

Inlet water for gas fired steam boiler

Generally the boiler feedwater purity specifications are a function of the boiler operating pressure. The higher the pressure (the higher the temperature) and thus the stricter the water requirements. A google search should find the table that gives the BFW specs based on boiler pressure.

    Where to add Inlet Fogging

I agree with RMW. If you inject the air upstream of your coils, your coils will then be cooling the air PLUS the water. Contact Mee Fog or Braden and they will likely have you install the foggers downstream of your inlet filters. But be sure your inlet duct lining is stainless steel.

    Centrifugal vs reciprocating ng compressors

Wouldn't a reciprocating unit produce pressure undesirable pulsations in the fuel line to the GT?

Air trap in inverted-u pipe, how to avoid/get rid of

There are devices designed for this very purpose, to vent air (or gases) from piping systems. Google pipeline auxiliaries and air vents to see what you get.

Sending HRSG Blowdown to Package Boiler

I appreciate all of the responses. I did forget to mention that this standby package boiler is typically left in run on "pilot" mode. It is equipped with a special pilot burner that is just large enough to hold the boiler at pressure, or even produce 1-2000 #/hr of steam (the boiler is rated...

Sending HRSG Blowdown to Package Boiler

I agree that injecting the hot water into the bottom drums would be better, to spread the heat, but I am concerned about steam implosion. About 20-25% of the hot water will flash to steam at this lower pressure, and if injected beneath the water level the steam will implode. Maybe that is...

Sending HRSG Blowdown to Package Boiler

We operate a 1315 psig HRSG 24/7. We'd like to send the continuous blowdown from this HRSG to a standby package boiler (320 psig A-frame)). This blowdown will help keep this standby boiler warm. I'd appreciate any information in regards to the injection of the blowdown water into the standby...

    'Educated' opinions on climate change

I like the idea of purchasing carbon credits to offset your polluting the environment. Maybe that idea will spread. How about if I rob a bank of $1 million, then pay $200k for crime credits having the money go to law enforcement, crime prevention groups, burglar bars, etc. Not a bad deal and...

    'Educated' opinions on climate change

What humans are we talking about that should "take steps"? the way I see it, only the U.S. and Europe will even make an attempt (translate that to spend money) whereas China, India, Africa, . . . . aren't going to do a thing. Will that help?

    'Educated' opinions on climate change

Has anyone else noticed that the term "global warming" is being changed to "climate change"? That way, regardless of which way the temperature goes, the greenies are right. They can blame any adverse weather on man and industry. Of course they ignore the fact that the weather cycles over long...
