I'll start by saying that I have very little experience with Catia. This question has likely been asked before, but I haven't found a solution online, or from any of my collegues.
When dimensioning a hole on a drawing in Pro Engineer, I would add details of the hole e.g. depth, chamfer size...
Hello. I'm about to machine some aluminium uprights for my car, but I'm struggling to decide on the fit of the wheel bearing.
The upright (housing) is Aluminium 7075.
The bearing is a double row taper roller assembly. OD 72 ID 39 (is it ford fiesta, using fiesta live front axles)
So the outer...
Hi Greg, thanks for your input.
My upright design is fixed, so I can only reduce caster trail by sacrificing caster angle. 5 degrees caster gives 28.5mm of trail, do you think this is a better option?
Thanks, tom.
Hi Cibachrome. Thanks for your response.
There are some details which I deliberately didn't include in my post, because I didn't want them to affect the response of others. I am one (structural) engineer building this car as a hobby and learning exercise. I don't have access to tire data (for...
Almost a year ago I asked some questions on this board regarding rear suspension geometry and the answers were helpful, thank you. Had some time off the project (real job got in the way) but now I'm finalising the rear and deciding on the front. Anyway, before I go fabricating I just wanted to...
Thanks Greg.
I tweaked a little more and the rear RC is now ~60 with front ~38.
Whilst I have your attention, can you comment on anti squat? I'd like some, perhaps 15% but this has introduced significant bump steer. Is the game now to move the trackrod out of plane with the lower wishbone...
Hi Greg,
I really don't, but is it actually possible to prevent that on the rear without using a lot of static camber? (this is my first suspension design, still not totally clear what is achievable)
I read at some point that ball park camber gain for a performance car is 0.6-0.9 deg/inch...
Hi Everyone. Firstly let me apologise for asking the same questions as many others will have done before me. I'm struggling a bit with lack of experience.
I'm designing the suspension for a light weight sports car:
700kg
300 bhp
front engine
rear drive
twin wishbone front
twin wishbone rear...
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your input. Even with a pure sine wave I don’t get the expected results. The imaginary part after ifft is of the same magnitude as the real part. I followed the FFT example you linked me to and did the following:
Fs = 512; % Sampling frequency
T = 1/Fs; % Sample time
L =...
Yep, and yes - massive spike at mode one in the frequency domain. Peak g is around 350-400. I believe my data is good, just struggling to convert to displacements! What is your suggested method for this IRstuff?
