I'd suggest making "planes" in Solidworks and add holes there. You can "thicken" for use in Solidworks, and leave the midplanes alone for use in Abaqus. Depending on what you're doing though, this might not be a good modeling approach for Abaqus. Beam elements with the I cross sections may be...
Is your directory structure something like this?
path/project/partNum RevNum.sldprt?
Do you have someone that can write a macro? If so you could write a macro to go through each folder, find the base file name rename RevA to base name, check in to PDM, release, inc rev, check out, copy RevB...
You're saying when you try to edit the macro in Solidworks, Solidworks crashes? Had you recently changed anything with the macro? Try editing in a previous SWx version like suggested several places on Solidworks forums https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/67969
This is a good reference for ball and socket: https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/home_page_posts/1/4/1/0/Plastic_Snap_fit_design.pdf
also, ertalyte is probably too brittle to do this with if you need a small part (low max strain). iirc ertalyte is similar to delrin af which you might be able to...
The thread size is M7x.75 and that's why it may be difficult to hand tapping the threads (it depends on the plastic used in 3D printer, I have no idea about its properties). It is a good idea to create a pocket for a hex nut but I have to see how to ensure that the hex nut will not leave the...
No macro needed. Add some dimensions on your part or assembly and then add an equation to sum them all. Add that named sum to your drawing or drawing template sourcing from the part properties.
In big models, nesting flexible sub assemblies will often result in flexible subs that don't solve well and don't drag. Do you get a "The selected component is fixed. It cannot be moved" tooltip or does it just not move?
What sort of radial repeatability do you need?
Can you just drill the 5/8" cylinder radially and put in a quick release pin like these? http://www.jergensinc.com/site/sfg_kwik-lok%C2%AE_pins
