Thanks Pmtoo! Looks like some good reading.

    Cam Lobe Design

"For a fee you could get someone like Harvey Crane at cranecamdesign to design a profile." I don't think that will happen. This is just a model engine. "Try this guy he is real knowledgeable about cam design" I dont want to bother anyone off list. I am just looking for some basic...

    Cam Lobe Design

I am in the process of designing a camshaft and need some help. When I increase the flank radius of the lobe, the positive G's go up and the negitive G's go down. I assume that the more positive G's, the more wear on the cam and stress on the valve train. Fewer Negitive G's and the spring...

    Volumetric Efficiency

Even at 100 percent you are at 700 cfm. If you are racing i would put a 750 cfm For street use id go with the 650 cfm None of this based on scientific fact, just my personal experiance and opinion. I would like to here other opinions based on real testing.

    Using E85 for the hotrod?

I did a search and found no thread related to ethanol or E85. I understand that ethanol and rubber are incompatible. The question was, what do i have to use to make my engine parts compatible, fuel lines, pump, tank, valve stem seals? Edelbrock makes a carb so that part is done. I could install...

    Using E85 for the hotrod?

I am considering converting 2 of my "toy" cars to E85 use. I cant find any information as far as requirements for materials used. The first car has a stock 350 SB chevy engine. I hear Edelbrock now makes an E85 ready carb, so no problem there. What about fuel lines, pump, tank? Plan also...

How i am going to drying 18 medium voltage cable 20 kv

In my area there is a conpany that test's breakers and cable. One of the services they offer is to hook up dry nitrogen to the cable to dry out a cable and push out the water. Call around in your area and see if any of your local testing outfits offer this service.

    MechE needs Elec.Cir advice

Take a look at the Fluke 705 Loop Calibrator. It will do what you need but will no doubt be pricy!

    Arc Fault Calculations

The truth about arc flash in the states is, there is no standard. Ask 5 engineers to calculate and you get 5 different answers. It has gotten to be a bunch of hocus pocus. Chrysler has new standards where 24volt control wiring is arc suit work because nobody can agree on what is needed. I agree...

    Can a 6-71support a 540 ci engine?

The Weiand and the GMC 671,s displace 411 CID and the BDS blower displaces 390 CID. I have a 540 CID (4.5 bore - 4.25 stroke)with a BDS 8-71 (440 Cid) on it. At 18% overdrive she made 7Lbs boost and with a 25% overdrive she made 10.5 Lbs of boost. Im not sure and im sure someone will correct me...

    Automotive Air Filter Sizing/Flow Calculations

    Here are some formulas for K&N type filters. I believe these were found at the K&N website. Hope this helps. Area = (CID * RPM) / 20839 Area = (Height - .75) * (Diameter * 3.141593) Area = Length * Width Height = (Area / (Diameter * 3.141593)) + .75 Diameter = (Area / (Height - 0.75)) /...

    Grouping Neutrals?

How does one know which red, black, blue is on a specific neutral if it is need a code requirement? YOU DON'T If the system was installed by a qualified electrician, the neutral should be properly marked at the neutral bus in the panel with all 3 numbers. Get a cheap amprobe and clip it on ALL...
