It depends very much on the slump. Also many other factors, such as mix design, aggregate gradation, w/c ratio, admixes, 'age' of concrete, ie: what point is the hydration reacytion at? Keep in mind that stiff concrete is not easy to work with.
The oval tremie pipe is a common solution. There is no 'manufactured' one that I am aware of. Brundage Bone has developed a 'mud snake' tremie hose for applications such as this, but if it happens to fill up and expand, jamming in the rebar, then it's a detriment. The tremmie pipe along with...
I am by no means an expert, but if the coarse aggregate has gotten nominally larger (and is still of the same durability), there should be no adverse affects to the strength density of the concrete. It may however affect the pumpability and workability of the concrete - coming from a former...
You might want to consider 'fibremesh' in the concrete mix as well. This, in addition to other prudent measures (w/c ratio, and attention to the gradation of the finer fractions of the aggregate) will greatly reduce the cracking potential.
Have you considered ICF's? (Insulated Concrete Forms)
They are very Do It Yourself friendly. Some are better than others for a tall wall. I was an owner/operator of a concrete pump, and I pumped into about 10 different brands of forms. You will have to pay for quality. Nudura forms are some...
Kind of dificult to alter the laws of physics. The load s behind the rear axles, how can how transfer it to the front axles???
The only possibility is for the truck to have a lift axle in front of the driven axle, a 'cheater' if you will. But this reduces the traction in off-road situations...
Can you use a surfactant to help the water atomise more, therefore reqiring less water consumption. I've also heard of systems that use a chemical to 'foam' the water, giving longer lasting results.
I once used a water-spray system on the dry circuit of our gravel crushing plant (terribly...
Don't skimp on the reinforcement if you want to minimize shrinkage cracks. Consider going from 2' pattern to 1' (or even 18"). (not a cheap option either) Plan the control joints to be where you WANT the cracks to be. (under walls) Consider fiber reinforcing if you will have a floor...
I have video of this type of pile being drilled and the grout being pumped in. My flash player isn't installing correctly, I haven't been able to preview it, so I'm not sure if the video includes a shot of the rebar cage being lowered into the grout...
Is anybody out on their own doing freelance soils/aggregate/concrete testing. I've been a contractor for a number of years, and I'm getting tired of the heavy commitment in capital for equipment, and all the risk for small margins.
There are no Engineering firms in my town, so to get a simple...
