Does anyone remember what the Mil-Spec was (IS?) that controls thread rolling in regard to it being performed BEFORE heat-treat above a certain KSI? I know it's a AS spec now but I need to access the old Mil-Spec for my job purpose of the moment. Thanks!
Thank you both for the info! Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner but I've been away for the week. That "burnt exhaust valves" is exactly what I DIDN'T want to hear though. :( Hopefully, it is not that!
Thanks again!
I was a little concerned about the baffles leaning it out too much and that was why I was wondering about it. I did check the plugs today and they are nice and brown, so now I know that the last owner MUST have rejetted it - between the Hypercharger (which I forgot to mention...
Thanks, Pressed!
I don't KNOW for certain yet; it seems that I hear it more under throttle but that all I can pin down so far. Yes, that IS the logic I am attempting to apply, that is why I asked if anyone knew if it could be a mixture related phenomenon, since I just changed the baffles to...
Hello!
I'm usually in the manufacturing and quality forums but I've run across a personal problem I cannot seem to find the answer to, so I thought I'd run by the motorcyle engineering folks and see what I can obtain.
I have a 2001 Yammie 1100 V-Star classic (Cali model with the AIS)...
Thanks! I really DO appreciate the response. Perhaps you didn't quite get my drift however; the problem is that this number (sampling number) was selected by my supposed "Director of Quality" and it is SO far off the 105 (or any other) sampling tables that it is ludicrous. I was really just...
Hello all;
I was just posed with what may seem a riduculous question (and it is) but I am required to arrive at an answer THIS MORNING! :O
If on had a lot of (new product, no historical data available) of 3600 units and one was to inspect but 6 of those unit and they were found to be...

I've been in the aerospace field for many years and have worked extensively with both decorative anodized finishes and hard anodized working finishes BUT I am now working in a commercial environment and have a problem that I don't have an answer too in regard to anodizing. Is it possible to...
Perhaps, MortenA....but remember that price and cost do not, necessarily, equate. :O
Thank you both, Pud and John, for those suggestions - I will look into both post haste.

Yes, of course....and thank you! I am NOT an expert in this field and was looking for something a littl simpler to deal with. 105 is not known for it's clarity and many say it is downright WRONG in it's approach to selecting appropriate AQLs. Were my knowledge in this realm greater, I might...
I need to get hold of some reliability tables-based sampling plans. Anyone know of a free, or at least, cheap source for these? I see EVERYONE is eager to sell them to you! :(
Thanks!

Thank you both for the input! Yes, that is ONE of several different interpretations I have gotten over the years and it does makes sense, of course. Btrueblood's answer contains one of the reasons I have questioned this specific callout over time - I have seen that "remove" statement made and...
