no, theres no free satellite service, at least that I've heard of. Most of them are very expensive to setup, and quite a few are download only - you still need a dial-up to upload or send requests. Look into getting ADSL or cable internet. Cheaper and much more reliable.

let me guess - the dialup adapter is appearing in windows 98, yeah? it seems to be a common thing, that windows just adds in to any networking device. Techincally, its actually a modem, or something similar - if it isn't causing problems, then just leave it.

If you put the Windows XP cd in your computer, it will boot from that and should give you the option of reformatting the drive (choose NTFS)

The WYX virus affects only the master boot record. What has happened is you've replaced the system files from the Win98se boot disk, which has overwritten the MBR with files from the floppy. Unfortunately, this means it has removed the option to boot into NT.

You should be OK with replacing the hubs with switches. As you know, switches are simply intelligent hubs - instead of repeating every burst of dat out to every port, a switch will send it only on the port that the computer that the data is meant is actually on.
