Hi folks,
does API 676 apply to progressive cavity pumps?
I want to know it with respect to the cavitation criteria of 3% drop in flow or head.
Do progressive cavity pumps also follow same cavitation criteria (for NPSHR calculation) of 3% drop in flow/head?
If not, what is the cavitation...
Hi folks,
I have to install a Progressive Capacity Pump and I wish to do the motor run test. Now, the problem is that the pump data sheet mentions "Coupling- No, Block-Yes". I believe, this 'block' does the function of the coupling. Does anyone know if I can remove the block (easy or...
Hi Guys,
our cd seems to be corrupted. I need to check if API 610 requirement for NPSH testing (4.3.4.1.3) talks about checking the pressure at 3% head drop or something else?
thanks in advance...
just wanna add that in the refinery i worked for, we used to store LPG in horton spheres at around 12 barg. It avoids two phase flow thru pumps and keeping LPG at high pressure also minimizes loss due to vaporization.
Hi guys,
I have a vessel with say 100m3 of water at room temp. I have to keep it recirculating with a centrifugal pump of 1MW capacity. I am concerned abt the temp rise of the fluid. The temp rise is only due to the friction losses, rite?
So, i should calculate as follows:
Electrical power...
Hi folks,
the limiting conditions in a distillation column are because of limitations on Vapor/Liq ratio- if V/L is very high, the column will go under flooding, if V/L is very low, it will exhibit weeping and so on...
Now, I have a serious difference of opinion from two of my colleagues (who...
Hi FOlks,
Sorry, I dont belong to this community. So if the questions sounds trivial, forgive me!
I want some information about Li-polymer batteries. Is frequent charging a problem for Li-polymer batteries? Is there anything like "overcharging" ? Leaving the battery under charging for...
Hi folks,
i was reading some where that pump alignment should be done at the operating temperature. Does it really make much of a difference if say, my operating temperature is below 60 C and i align the pump at 25 C?
Thanks...

Man, when u can get it for free, why waste money? Afterall, very competitive environment these days!
Thnx guys. I have gone to www.pumps.org and also scoured hydraulic institute website. But all have to be purchased! Cronin, is hydrostatic test same as hydrotest? Hydrotest is mandatory for all...
Hi folks,
where can i find some "free" info on detailed standards for pump acceptance tests?
Actually, we normally go for motor checks, ppump performance checks (head, capacity, power, NPSH), logic checks (start/stop, duty/standby), vibration, noise etc...
Can anyone tell what other...
