thanks JStephen... that is helpful...
Shear forces and Torsional moment are ignored as they have negligible effect in nozzle/shell intersection in most cases... and this is the guideline per the internal spec I am using as no loads were available...
while it appears that the moments shall be...
I have axial load(tensile/compressive) and longitudinal and circumferential bending moments at nozzle/shell intersection. Axial load is along centerline of nozzle, circumferential and longitudinal are along tangential axes at shell.
I need to check flange on a nozzle and for that the loads need...
The only consideration at this time is Seismic, and is important to size the skirt thickness. We're not looking at wind currently, but we'll be looking into it sooner or later.
Given Tom's comments, a clear understanding is vital for developing per NBC. Thank you again for your valuable...
everyone thank you for your comments.
vesselguy, I did read the NBC 05 seismic loads section under structural sec. However, it does not provide explicitly any application to towers or vessels.
As you can see from other users' comments.
My question again is how and if it is possible to apply the...
Does anyone have experience applying NBC 2005 Seismic Code to pressure vessels? I am looking through it right now but am unclear at the moment to its application to vessels and towers.
Any help is appeciated.
Thank you in advance.

Dear gr2vessels,
Did my reply appear negative. I apologize. I took your advice in good spirit. I did read the IS 1893, before I posted the original post, but I could not find much information for RSM other than IS1893.
Yes, you're correct in your interpretation I am new to Seismic stuff...
Could someone please explain:
1. Zero Period Acceleration
2. Zone factor
Their relation to each other if any (formula).
Thank you in advance.

Could someone please highlight the difference between Response Spectrum Method and IS:1893 RSM (2002)?
In particular, I am interested in how IS:1893-2002 could be alternatively modeled using Response Spectrum Method.
Thank you in advance.

I did find some references to IS 1893. I will go through them and see if I can find all the necessary information.
The IS-1893 is the Indian standard for seismic. Currently, IS-1893 (2002) is latest (it was last updated in 2002).
Thank you.

Thank you much GregLamberson and DeanC on you valuable comments.
WOuld it be possible for you to point out also where I could find IS-1893.
Thanks in advance.
