good engineering and construction practice is to lift vessels with lugs designed for that purpose or with slings.
In my 50 + years in the business we never used nozzles as lifting points.

In addition to Sharik's response there are boilers that may have horizontal tubes or circuits that may be sloped but there may not be enought density difference in the water steam mix to drive the circulation.
Forced circulation is then required to to make the thermocycle function inorder not...
The actual stamping could be the weak point of a vessal. Dies for stamping are usualy low stress type. The Stamped metal could control the MAWP unless the stamping is on an attached plate welded to the vessal.

You should know the Gal/min flow rate and the area of tank roof. You then can figure the rate of rise.
The flow rate could vary with the head of oil in the tank. Try Getting a pump curve and plot a system curve. if the pump is a positive displacement pump it is not hard. if not pos. displacement...
Dummy tube and I assume these are not connected to the reheat tube circuit are in place to maintain tube spacing to keep a uniform flue gas flow over the tube bank. Removal may cause a problem with poor performance of the boiler if the reheat tubes become miss aligned.

Tube thining and failure of this type can be caused by seperation of the two phase flow of steam and water at low load operation and the condition of your boiler water if highly alkaline.
In addition, these failures may be caused by a low circulation rate in the tube bank due to poor circuit...
Bottom supported steam drums are supported by larger and heavier downcommer tubes. In some casses these downcommers are not exposed to the products of combustion or are not in the high heat release zone of the furnace.

Heating value of coal, Btu/lb of coal x lb. of coal/Hour x Boiler efficency equals the steam enthal.Btu/lb of steam x lb.of steam/Hour.
simple cal. but need to know Btus of saturated and superheated steam, and of feed water.
You can find info by check "Steam Its Generation and Use" by Babcock &...
You should be able to estimate the requirements for steam loads based upon past fuel consumption per day, month, etc.and predict the steam requirements.
Knowing the output of each boiler you will be abel to manage there operation so that you will know wheather to have both boilers operating or...
I believe you need to look at the fan curve from the OEM and the System curve which should have been furnished with the installation which will show you the exact conditions you are working with.
The smaller stack addes pressure drop to the system curve causing the use of more HP to meet the...
The PSE&G coal fired plant in Jersey City is able to burn coal, NG or oil. The soot blowers are programed to opperate continuosly when burning coal. The unit is design to operate at full load without an ash plume.
Soot blowers can be design to operate by steam, air or electric motors.

In The old days, Foster Wheeler Corp made a cast iron extended surface gill ring boiler for diesel engine service. The tubes were made by shrinking cast iron sections on carbon steel tubes. These boilers were also used in sulfuric acid plants to burn sulfur.
I don't believe they still make these...
I suggest you contact the boiler and or burner manufacturer to get there input. Provide a fuel specification to them. They may be able to supply a complete package of pumps, heaters, etc. to convert your system to burn the heaver oil.
