    Top Angle Placement

Thank you for the feed back. The problem we are running into are customers who insist on x-raying the butt joint between top angle and shell.

What is the logic in API 620 Section 6.9.2 (11th edition add 1)in allowing plates to not be staggered? Thanks

    1. This is the customer idea. 2. I'm a tanky and not a painter. Thanks for the response.

laminating existing tank shells with new sheet steel

Is there any restriction on welding a thin gauge less corrosive sheet material over the existing tank shell and bottom. This would be done with lap welds and plug welds. Thanks in advance

    NFPA 22 Underbottom protection - Section 5.6.7

I would like to place an NFPA 22 Fire Water Tank on a ringwall foundation. The tank is about 40' dia. Given the options for protecting the bottom underside, it would seem at first glance that the sand/lime mix with a ph of 6.5 to 7.5 would be the best option. However, finding the proper...

API 650 Uplift / Overturning and Tank Anchoring

Reinforcing of Opening in Roof Manway Cover Plate

It sounds like you have an Appendix F tank with the 0.3 psi design pressure. Apx. F will inturn direct you to API 620 for the design of the manways. Happy hunting.

    SS for this water?

What about the use of Duplex 2101 for plate and 2205 for pipe. The 2101 cost is somewhat competitive to 304L.

Maximum thickness for lap welds- API-650

OK I'll bite. I found nothing in API 650 either, but obviously you would need a bw annular plate. The breakdown would be impractical past 3/8" and the three plate laps would be a challenge for an earthling. I also checked Euronorm and found nothing. AWWA D100-05, however, Section5.9.4.5...
