Couple of questions on buttress thread.
1. Determine if wall thickness of steel tube (60 ksi) can withstand internal pressure of 4,500 ksi on a buttress thread, 0.5-20 BUTT-2? The max tube dia is 0.544 that can't be changed. I am stuck with thread major dia 0.5" because is the lowest specified...
Interesting topic. never used xfig or inkscape. i do all my vector graphics in Creo. Straightforward but painstaking long. I always wondered a better software graphics for creating tolerance loops. i am draftsman so if you need helping with CAD, i try to help
I use Creo everyday. Stamping will fall under sheetmetal module. I dont necessarily use it, just occasionally when given a project. Due to our TDP needs, we have to use a PDM database thus Windchill fits perfectly. it is the top tier on its own. I dont think Teamcenter NX can even compete.. But...
Has anyone use it very well? You can easily get bad results, is heavily dependant on the constraints... So Please recommend a good training center/mentoring and more affordable than sigmetrix? it can do worst case and statistical tolerancing, in the latter it calculates the sensitivities of...
Very well deserved. His contributions are spot on.
Thank you sir. Curious what software does he use to make those arrows. My CAD software takes forever.
Right. Unfortunately, there is no similar example using LMB. If you want to use Alex approach, the trick is to use 18.5 as LMC. Where the VC=MMC size (19.5) or min datum shift=0 (|MMC rad-VC rad) and the max datum shift is 1.0 (|LMC rad - VC rad|)
. you mean option 2 restrains the shaft?. yes, i corrected the graph, E should not be in path, letter mismatch. Option 2 was proposed but my reservations is the shift between shaft and washer hole (dimension H) which option 2 doesnt count for.
thanks
Hi 3DDave
Here are two stack path. The ball is standard 1/16" diameter. I am doing reverse engineering. We know the max,min gap which is our design requirement. I am trying to design the washer dimensions from scratch. I opted for option 1 but i cant seem to position the parts at its minimum...
Folks
I am trying to find the max/min distance and I am not sure if this approach is the best one. Please doublecheck.. Lets assume the mating features are perpendicular so we can rule out any tilting and datum features dont need to be perpendicular, thats a new one..
Datum Shift, Line D...
Folks
We need to apply a static 1000lbs tensile load to a step bar but my concern is necking rupture. Material is Steel 4130. Is there a formula to estimate the optimum fillet radius to use? or whether a draft taper will work better? If not, a FEA software like Creo structure will work as well??
Thanks. Here is the spreadsheet for max distance where he could easily merge it into one.
But in any case, what happens if there are two datum features modifiers, on B & C. Do you add them up? add whatever size difference it is. say: (11.0-10.8)/2 + (25-23.5)/2.
You are saying datum shifts approach is different in parts and assemblies. The Bonus/Shift Chart is the same except the equation is reversed for shaft.
