How was the OP's desire to be professional addressed in the above reply?
And exactly where does the OP mention the idea to 'buy' the certificate to become professional?
Or how do you get the impression that the OP wants to avoid the path of training and experience?
DSB123: Why are you being so narrow minded?
Did you not look at the question carefully?
"i am looking for api certicate to be professional in machinery"
Those who buy certificates from internet don't aim to be professionals in their fields.
May be OP wants to know if there is any API...
Well RCHandy, it is not a double post at all.
I posted this question on API code issues forum to know the opinion of people with expertise in API 5L code and its code cases. Here, I am asking all the personnal who are experienced in piping and fluid mechanics which off course is not limited to...
Well guys, thanks for the replies.
I understand API 5L and I have been working with piping and pipelines for quite sometime. So I know that line pipes are specified with constant OD and variable ID depending upon thickness.
The trick questions here are;
- Whether it is possible to specify...
hi
Is it possible in any way for the buyer to specify line pipe dimensions with constant ID and different OD? e.g. pipe of ND 18-inch but with constant ID of 425.2mm and wall thicknesses like 14.5, 16 and 18 mm. I have gone through API 5L (very thoroughly again and again)and all I find is OD...

It does not have to be very accurate but just to have an idea. Upto six month old prices are also fine.
Its just to be sure that whatever contractor is claiming regarding prices is based on market trend and not just an unusually high price from one supplier only.
Hi
I was wondering if there is any free information source on the internet where I can find the prices for different grades of steels used in pressure vessel industry? Like A516 Gr. 60 & 70, A240 316L, Duplex 2205, Inconel 625 etc.
Any help will be appreciated.

IMHO, the 2:1 elliptical and torispherical heads always looks better when this rule is followed.
SF= 2 x shell thickness but not less than 50mm.
I dont know where (if ever) I read it but I always find the results visually appealing.
For hemispherical heads, there should not be any straight...
I believe you meant to say that
"Thus UG-45(a) applies to all such connections, but UG-45(b) appplies only to "process-type" connections, not to "access" openings."
Thank you for your input.
I agree with "deanc". I dont like extra thick repads on nozzles. It is something that I am not comfortable with.
And there are other ways to provide reinforcement for nozzles besides using extra thick and less wide repads.
Dear members
What is your opinion regarding the requirement of UG-45 (Min. nozzle neck thickness) calculations for manways?
Are such calculations mandatory even for manways?
Waiting for the replies.
Thank you all the invaluable responses. I had very similar thoughts.
I cannot give the name of that shop because of obvious reasons. But believe me, I will do every thing I can to stop incompetent organizations from getting certified.
One more question; Can the shop get through by borrowing...
Guys, though you may find the question funny, please give your learned comments.
"Is it possible that a shop may get the renewal of ASME U-stamp accredition without ever having the BPV code?"
Looking forward to the replies
