Hello Group
I can find much data on the compatibility of pumped product with
Silicon Carbides (Sintered or Reaction Bonded) and Tungsten Carbide (Nickel or Cobalt bound) and the pH ranges of each.
I'm having trouble sourcing similar data for 'Carbon'
Do resin and antimony carbons have pH...
Hello group
Im looking a repeat seal problem where the shaft sleeve has contacted with the bore of the seal plate.
The contact area is at about "2 oclock"
So it seems the shaft has move up and over a touch.
I have been told that the pumps operate at vacuum.
This is where Im getting a bit lost...
Hello there Group
Im looking for advice, suggestions, URLs on material of contruction selection for a pump and mechanical seal which will see Brine (25% w/w) at 80°C (176°F)
I have a rule of thumb in my head that says >30°C (86°F) on seawater then Titanium is used. However, I dont know where I...
Hey group
I'm trying to nail down the application of ATEX to mechanical seal so I would appreciate some thoughts.
Cartridge Seal on pump in Zone 1
Plan 53 Thermosyphon Seal system
Now, to comply with ATEX I have heard much conflicting information.
Source W says to monitor the fluid in the...
Hey Group
I have a plan 54 system using 'reclaimed' condensate
Temp is <40°C so we have seen no trouble there
The question is, it is thought the condensate could have solid/fines in it so a 12 micron filter is used on each system to protect the seal barrier seeing any solids.
These filters...
Hey Group
As I understand it hot water / condensate has a low lubricity and therefore we usually see Carbon v SiC faces in a Mechanical seal.
Now then, if you were to use cooled 'recliamed' condensate and a barrier fluid and was sealing against a product which required SiC v SiC, would a...
Hey group
I'm looking for the lowdown on Sintered and Reaction Bonded SiC Mechanical Seal Faces.
Typical Performance differences (temp, pressure, resistance to chemicals etc, strength)
Ballpark cost comparisons
Can one be shrink fitted and the other not???
Any advice or URLs appreciated...
Hello Group
I have got a cartridge seal from a boiler feed application.
356°F (180°C) at 246 Psi (17 BarG) with a cooled chamber and the seal also has a cooled seat.
What I have is an Antimony impregnated Carbon versus a Sintered Silcon Carbide equiped mechanical seal.
The Carbon face has...
Could you expand on that Mike?
Ive got a guy asking for the life expectancy of a seals and he expect the manf. to have data similar to L10
Its just not done, but Im stumbling to find the words
to explain why its not done for seals and it is for bearings.
I can see his point. Take a Type 1...
Hey there Group
In boiler feed apps the metal of the mech seal often
get a red/brown coating on it.
Is this Ferrite?
Im looking for info on the source of the ferrite in these apps and how it can be dealt with (mag filters? and the like)
Is the ferrite suspended in the water or is it...
