It's been quite a few years since I've worked on extruders, but I don't think aluminum would survive the cleaning process when things go wrong, like a loss of power.

Is this a weld stud? We do stud welding at our shop, and this looks similar to a weld stud. Larry

Angle the slots on the "bottom plate" will allow for more adjustment.

I'm retired now, but were I used to work, Drawings were needed for every part and operation eg. grinding, plating, heat treat, even raw material. Drawings were considered legal documents, also needed for engineering changes etc. signed by the engineer

The reason that I remember this, is that this was one of the Changeling (Trick) questions on the CWI Exam.

I'm retired now, but 30 some years ago I was an AWS (American Welding Society) CWI (Certified Welding Inspector), and there was no Butt Weld, it was a Butt Joint with a Groove Weld. Unless something has changed.

If I remember correctly 24" diameter pipe is considered plate, according to AWS D1.1.

Balancing stand or pipe rollers, only much smaller.
