    Radiography before/after PWHT

ANSI B31.3 and ASME Section III contain specific requirements for certain P-number materials... The other construction codes are silent on this issue. However, since delayed cracking can occur after PWHT, it is better to perform RT after at least 72 hours have passed.

Which ASME VIII guidebook should I choose?

James R. Farr & Maan H. Jawad are both on Code Committee and their book contains excellent information covering all aspects of ASME Section VIII.

    contradiction in QW-256!!

First start by reading QW-200 and QW-400. Essential Variables require requilification, while Non-Essential Variables do not. However, both must be properly addressed within the Weld Procedure Specification and Essential Variables must be addressed in the Procedure Qualification Record. There...

Stress Intensification Factor for Socket Welds

Be careful, not all codes use 1.09 tn. ANSI B31.3 uses a higher figure 1-1/4 T for this dimension.

    UCS 56 and Sec IX

There are two issues here; 1) PWHT time and Temperature - which is addressed in UCS-56 and QW-407.1 (All paragraphs need to be addressed) and 2) Those materials requiring Impact test (And therefore QW-407.2)

asme NCA 3800, low melting elements.

This should actually not be a problem, except when in critical material areas (Reactor Belt Area). Your customer is applying ASME NCA 3800 requirements more stringently than ASME Team Leaders and ANI/ANIS.
